A/N

Remember:

Georgie: DC

Jenny: IDC

Kentucky blinked away sleep as Vermont went on and on about his state's constitution and his plans for his people. He normally didn't come to meetings, even after becoming a state. There was always too much work back at the farm to do, he always found them a little dull, and having your estranged brother leading them led to awkward eye contact and small fights breaking out.

But today was the twins first check up, and Georgia had to stay home while Massachusetts ('Could we not get anyone else?' Kentucky whispered as Massachusetts cooed over the babies. 'Shush.' Georgia ordered kissing Kentucky briefly on the lips. 'He's doing this for free.') checked on the babies, giving Kentucky no choice but to go to the meeting in Georgia's place.

Kentucky yawned again as the meeting moved on, this time to a fight between New York and Rhode Island over seafood. It was a struggle to stay awake during meetings normally but last night was a tough night and neither parent slept much. Georgie was fussy all night, refusing bottles and rocking, and if Georgie was fussy that meant Jenny was fussy as well. The southern state could barely keep his eyes open as New Jersey jumped in to defend Rhode, maybe no one would notice if he just napped a little, surely no one needed to hear from Kentucky today....

"KENTUCKY." Kentucky's head snapped up at snickers and stares from his fellow states, and a glaring older brother.

"You were asleep.' Virginia hissed, crossing his arms.

"Sorry....sorry long night." Kentucjy mumbled, rubbing his temples and yawning. He ignored the sympathetic looks from the Carolina's, if they wanted to help they'd come over and babysit once in a while.

"I thought you'd be taking your job seriously when you became a state." Virginia continued.

"I take it plenty serious Virginia." Kentucky said with a glare.

"Oh sleeping during a meeting that's taking your job seriously?"

"Some of us have other stuff going on!" Kentucky hissed.

"Yeah we can't be focused on your dumb meetings all the time." New York added.

"Ya know I thought maybe, just maybe, when you became a state you'd be better. You'd come around. But no, you're still the same drunk you were twenty years ago!" Virginia yelled. Silence filled the meeting room as the two brothers stared each other down. Some New England states were ready to jump up in case Kentucky made a go for Virginia, but instead Kentucky stood up calmly and grabbed his coat.

"Where are you going?" Virginia demanded.

"Home." Kentucky announced throwing his jacket on.

"We're in the middle of a meeting!" Virginia yelled.

"Clearly I'm not fucking wanted here!" Kentucky screamed before storming out, slamming the door behind him. All the states flinched then heard a soft sigh as Virginia slumped in his chair, holding his head.

"Meeting dismissed."

Kentucky rode home, trying to calm himself down from the blow up with his brother so Georgia wouldn't have to deal with the aftermath like he usually did. He only stopped to nap an hour before making it home in record time before the sun set.

He barely put the horse back and gave her food and water before racing inside the house.

"Geo? Geo I'm home!" Kentucky called.

"Tucky? Did the meeting get out early?" Georgia asked, placing his knitting off to the side and standing up.

"Nah, I fought with Virginia again." Kentucky said proudly. Before Georgia could protest, he pecked him on the lips. "Where's Mass, are the babies okay?"

"The babies are GREAT." Massachusetts announced with a flourish, exiting one of the farmhouses backrooms holding two bundles. The parents rushed over to take a look at their babies; Jenny was fast asleep, clutching the blanket she was wrapped in but Georgie, ever the observer, was looking around with his big eyes.

"Perfect weight and size despite being born too early." Massachusetts announced depositing the twins in Georgia's arms. "I would just keep an eye on Georgie, he seems pretty shaky with his health, but otherwise they're both fine."

"How can we pay you?" Georgia asked as Kentucky took the twins from him.

"Nonsense. You're one of the og thirteen! You get it for free." Massachusetts said with a smile. "But you're paying next time we go out."

"Deal." Georgia smiled. Massachusetts collected his supplies and left, leaving the small family alone.

"I think I'll put the babies down for a nap before dinner. They had a long day." Kentucky announced softly.

"Let me know if they give you trouble." Georgia said gently. The two kissed once again before Kentucky made his way upstairs, into his and Georgia's bedroom. Instead of putting the twins in their crib right next to the bed, Kentucky gently put them on the bed, then crawled in next to them, gently looping an arm around them. Jenny whined a little at the sudden movement, and at his sisters whine so did Georgie. But they soon settled down, even Georgie let his eyelids droop and slowly fall asleep.

"Oh my babies, my world. Who needs a big brother when I've got you two?" Kentucky whispered. The babies responded in tiny huffs making Kentucky smile.

"I won't let you two fall out like I did with your uncles, I guarantee it." Kentucky added. He shook away the tears that suddenly appeared in his eyes, no time for that. "Papa loves you more than the world, don't forget that." The babies continued to sleep on, and Kentucky felt his own eyelids drooping, the drama of the day finally catching up to him. Bringing the twins in tighter, Kentucky gave a yawn and finally fell asleep, no where else he'd rather be, then with his children.
