“Home is not a place…it’s a feeling.”

Riley POV

When Nick came back from the store, he gave me the stuff he bought and then I wanted to tell him about Mason, but I didn't get the chance. He interrupted me when I tried to tell him because he told Alessia to make dinner. I decided to tell him at the dinner table because it will probably take a while until Mason would come here anyways.

That's also what I did. When we sat down to eat, I spoke up and said:

,,My friend Mason called me... He wants to come over. Is that okay?"

,,Ahm....sure...." Nick said, but didn't sound totally convinced. I didn't really care anyways. I didn't like being so far away from home so at least if Mason is here, then I could feel a little better.

I wanted to go home, but I was too mad at my parents to do that. They kept me away from Nick and lied to me all this time. I just can't look at them at the moment.

Suddenly Nick's phone started ringing and he's facial expression changed drastically when he looked at his phone.

,,May you excuse me for a second. I think I need to answer this." Nick said and then walked in another room leaving me and Alessia at the dinner table alone.

,,Who is that Mason you mentioned earlier?" Alessia asked with a smirk.

,,My best friend from kindergarten. Well he is one of my best friends better said." I said and she nodded.

It was really awkward until Nick came back at the table, but right as he wanted to sit down, the interphone rang and he groaned lightly.

,,I'm gonna get a crisis!" Nick said as he made his way to the interphone. ,,WHAT?" He yelled into the interphone. ,,Oh I'm so sorry I didn't expect you to be here this early.... Come in I guess." Nick said in the interphone and then turned around to look at me. ,,It's your friend." Nick said and a smile appeared on my face.

I immediately stood up from the table and walked over to the door to open it for Mason, but before I could open the door Nick did.

I smiled at Mason, but when he walked in his eyes immediately fell on Nick. He was now probably even more suspicious of Nick after Nick yelled at him through the interphone. It was kinda by mistake, but I get how it looked like from Mason's point of view.

,,Do you wanna join us? We were just having dinner." Nick said and gave Mason a smile that looked a little weird to be honest.

,,I'm not hungry. Thanks tho." Mason said.

,,I'm pretty full right now too. We'll go in the guest room if that's okay." I said and pulled Mason by his hand to the room, but Nick stopped us.

,,Keep the door open." Nick said and both Mason and I looked confused at him.

,,Why?" I asked confused.

,,Because I said so! Now please don't argue with me. Your grandmother pissed me off enough." Nick said and that confused me even more.

,,What does grandma Karen have to do with this!?" I asked confused and I also received a confused look from Nick.

,,Who the hell is Karen? I mean your real grandmother. Mary." Nick said and his words kinda pissed me off.

I am mad at mom and dad, but Karen and Manny are just as much my grandparents like Marry is and that will never change. I decided to ignore it first and just asked:

,,Why did grandma Mary piss you off?"

,,It doesn't matter. Now go to your room and leave the door open." Nick said and just turned his back at me before I could say anything else.
