"The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life."
-Richard BachCamila POV
The weekend passed way too fast and now it was already Monday. Yey...
Today is going to be pretty eventful. On Friday I talked to Nick on the phone and we planned to meet up together at a cafe close to our house with Riley and Shawn today, after Riley will be done with school and Shawn and I are done with work.
I talked to Mary to take care of Ami and Nate while Shawn, Riley and I are gone. Ami and Nate were both staying longer in school because Ami has cheerleading and Nate has basketball. Riley also has swimming like every day after school and Shawn and I will go and pick her up and then we will go to that cafe to meet up with Nick.
During the weekend, I could also contact Melanie and I talked to her about the adoption papers. She did a pretty quick job with the papers and she already send me them per mail and I already printed them. Melanie said that after Shawn, Riley and I sign them then it will take a while until Riley is officially Shawn's adoptive daughter. Riley said she also wants to tell Nick that because she thinks he has the right to know and after she talks to him she wants to give the papers to Shawn.
Riley and I already signed the papers so Shawn is the only one left to sign them. Riley said she wants to give the papers to Shawn after the today's meet up with Nick if everything goes well.
So directly after work, Shawn and I went to pick up Riley and of course Mason was also with her.
,,Hey, you two." Shawn and I said at the same time when Riley and Mason got in the car.
,,Hey." Mason and Riley said at the same time and put on their seatbelts.
,,Should we drive you home or are you coming with us?" Shawn asked Mason.
,,Home. I mean it's a family thing, so I probably shouldn't be there." Mason said and Shawn and I nodded understanding his decision.
We dropped off Mason at his house and then we made our way to the cafe where we were supposed to meet Nick. When we got there, Shawn parked the car and then we all made our way into the cafe to realize that Nick didn't arrive yet.
We sat down at a table and ordered us something to drink in the meantime.
,,Can I bring you something?" The waitress asked us.
,,A cappuccino please." I said and the waitress wrote that down.
,,For me too." Shawn said and the waitress nodded.
,,And for you?" The waitress asked Riley.
,,Ahm... A lemonade?"
,,Okay. Was that all?" The waitress asked and Shawn and I nodded.
,,Are we early?" Riley asked and I looked at my clock and noticed that we were the opposite of early. We were 10 minutes late and Nick wasn't here. Of course. How could he ever be punctual? It's not like this is important for his daughter, but it's also not like he ever gave a fuck about anyone else but himself.
,,No..." I said and Riley nodded a little disappointed.
,,How was the training today?" Shawn asked Riley trying to start a conversation and make Riley relax for at least a second.
,,It was good, but one of the girls didn't show up again. I haven't seen her in a while at school." Riley said.
,,Do you have her number? Maybe you can ask her." I said and Riley nodded.
