17. Crushing on you

Plot: Vinnie likes you but he thinks you don't like him back

You are friends with Jett and that's how you met Vinnie, through him. Around Jett and the others, you were very comfortable, obviously because you've known them for a long time. But Vinnie was new to you. And you were less outgoing around people you didn't know that well. Not that you didn't like him. You did, you just needed to get more comfortable with him.

But you had no idea that Vinnie had a huge crush on you. At first he just though you were pretty, but then it got to a point where he couldn't stop thinking about you and couldn't wait until the group hung out again so he could see you. But he never made it known to you. He was extremely nervous to say anything because of how you rarely spoke to him or approached him. He thought you didn't even like him as a friend, let alone something more.

Y'all were hanging out tonight with the group at Jett's house. As soon as you saw Vinnie walk through the door, he smiled at you and accepted his hug.

Everyone was getting relaxed in the living room area. You didn't notice, but when another guy was about to sit on the couch next to you, Vinnie directed him aside so he himself could have that spot.

Some time had passed by and Vinnie was in the kitchen with someone else being weird, as boys are. You were talking to Jett some feet away from them.

"You know Vinnie likes you right?" He said.

"What? No he doesn't."

"Really? Because seems to me that he's pretending to cook a can of beans in a pan just to get your attention."

(Visual Aid):

"Like he wants you to see him and laugh at what he's doing. And he keeps looking over at you. Call me crazy but I know I'm not seeing things." Jett replied.

"That doesn't prove anything." You shrugged.

"Well look at his lock screen on his phone when you get a chance."
And with that he walked off.

You stood there and glanced at Vinnie by the stove and you caught his eye. You went over to him.

"May I ask what on earth are you doing?" You smirked at him. 

"Nothing." He smiled and shrugged.

You started making random conversation with him until you saw his phone on the counter that was behind you. Vinnie started putting his stuff away and while his back was to you, you tapped on his phone to see the screen and your eyes widened.

It was a picture of you and Vinnie. He's holding up the phone and you both are smiling in the frame. It took you a moment to figure out where it came from but then you remembered that he had a made a tik tok and at one point, you were both in the frame.

He must have taken a screen shot and set the picture as his lock screen.

You look over to find Jett but he's looking right at you as if to say, I told you

Jett started to type something on his phone and right then, that's when Vinnie came over to grab his phone that was still resting on the counter by you.

You heard his phone vibrate with a message and his face went blank for a second before he responded to whoever texted him.

"What the hell did you text Vinnie?" You asked Jett when you were out of earshot of the others.

"I told him that you know that he likes you and to make his move."

Jett had the idea of going to the beach so everyone got in their cars and drive together.

Listening to the waves while leaning against your car was relaxing but then Vinnie came up to you.

"Uh, Y/N, can I talk to you?"

"What's up?" You stuff you hands on the pockets of your hoodie.

"I just...I...fuck-" he mumbled as he was having trouble getting his words together.

"I kind of...really like you."

And before you could even respond, he said,

"But I mean I understand if you don't like me back. I just assume that you don't like he because we never really talk-"

"Hey," you interrupted. "I don't dislike you. I just keep to myself more around people I recently met."

Vinnie smiled in relief.

"And if we're being honest....I like you too."

Hearing him say his feelings for you made you realize that you liked him more than you thought.

"Maybe we could go out sometime?" He asked.

"I think I'd like that." You said. And then you shocked yourself and probably Vinnie also when you reach you and pull him toward you in a kiss. It was probably the bravest, boldest thing you've done but you weren't even mad at it.

"Yeah I think I'm really gonna like the idea of us dating." He smiled against your lips.

The rest do your friends began to cheer and clap and you pulled away from Vinnie with a little embarrassment knowing they had seen that.

"Finally! Oh my God!" Jett exclaimed.

Vinnie laughs nervously and runs a hand through his hair. He looks down at you, both of you exchanging shy smiles.
