Plot: this day in February changes your relationship with Vinnie
———————————————————————————

You were never really a fan of Valentine's Day. Only in elementary school it was more of something to look forward to because it was a fun day in class. After that, it seemed kinda useless. Superficial even. You deeply believed that if someone loved you, they would show you all the time, not just on one day of the year.

So the whole red and pink festivities had your judgement. Well maybe also because of the fact that you never had a real valentine before.

This year is a little different. You weren't necessarily alone but you had a thing. Not a boyfriend though because you and Vinnie never talked about labels.

You definitely liked him but didn't know if he really liked you in that way. Sure, he'd wrap an arm around you often or you'd lay on his bed while he streamed (and sometimes even fall asleep) or talk to him about personal issues late at night. But that wasn't a definite sign of anything.

You've wanted to bring this topic up to him so many times, about where this was headed, but you didn't want to come across as desperate. But now Valentine's day is coming up, and the urge to clear things up was stronger than ever.

You didn't bring the day up and neither did Vinnie. In fact, someone asked him in his comment section on tik tok what he was doing on Feb 14th and he replied with "valorant".

Knowing him, he was probably telling the truth with that one.

Until he came to you with a smirk saying, "What are you doing tomorrow?"

"Um, it's a Monday. So I'll be at school."

"Okay good, so that means you're free in the evening. We're gonna ball out."

A small smile curls on your lips. It was happening!

"What should I wear?" You asked trying not to ruin the surprise by asking too many questions.

"The black leather pants. Those look good on you."

"Okay." You grin, with excitement.

You could barely pay attention in class the whole day because you kept daydreaming about what Vinnie could possibly have planned.

You get home and get ready way before you're really supposed to. You try to distract yourself around the house anxiously wait for Vinnie.

When your doorbell rings a few minutes before eight, you answer it and Vinnie stands before you dressed in a simple black outfit and chains. You even picked up on the scent of cologne.

"Hey, you ready?" He asked and gives you a hug.

"Yeah."

"I'm parked right out front."

You grab your jacket and phone and head down with him. His Mazda is right out front and he opens the door for you.

"You look great." He smiled and runs his fingers through your hair.

"Thanks, so do you."

When he pulls up to a restaurant, you immediately think of a nice dinner between the two of you. But as soon as you walk in, your smile fades.

It's like a party going on in here and Vinnie has brought you to a table with Jack and some girls you had never seen before. You realize that it wasn't a intimate date, but just hanging out with friends. Nothing different.

You do your best to hide the disappointment because you had absolutely no reason to be mad. Vinnie never said it was a date so technically it was wrong of you to assume.
