Plot: bringing the new baby home

Note: I know that's Vinnie's cousin in the picture I used. I'm just using it for a visual
———————————————————————————

Today was a big day. Adriana, your three year old daughter at home, would finally meet her newborn sister, Gianna.

You and Vinnie just left the hospital as Gianna had gotten all of her testing done and was ready to come home.

Now in the car, you sat in the passenger seat while Vinnie drove. The baby was in the car seat in the back, and you were hyper aware of your surroundings. Every movement and the other cars on the road.

You couldn't believe it's been only 24 hours since you gave birth.

"What were you going to tell me earlier?" You asked him.

"Oh yeah. So Adriana told me a while ago that she was so excited and that she was going to help with everything and even let the baby stay in her room."

You smiled at the thought that Adriana felt so confident. But you knew she might actually be pretty shy once the reality hit.

"Wait until Gianna starts walking and talking and getting into all her stuff."

"We're pulling up now." Vinnie told Maria over the phone as he came up the driveway.

Maria was staying with Adriana at the house while you and Vinnie were at the hospital.

Vinnie quickly got out to help you out the car.

Opening the door, you were met with the sight of your daughter and Maria standing a few feet away with Poncho by their side as they were awaiting your arrival.

"Oh my." Maria said once she saw the newborn in your arms. "How beautiful."

Vinnie got on his knees next to Adriana and put his arms around her while you bent down in front of her.

"This is your baby sister." You smiled at her.

She just kinda looked, not sure what to do for a second, whereas Poncho was wagging his tail, trying to get a better look but Maria kept him at a distance for right now.

"Wait come on, let's go to the couch." Vinnie spoke up.

"Yeah let's go get comfortable."

Adriana understood as a smiled formed on her face and grabbed your hand to bring you over there.

But once you sat down, she became shy once again. But with a mix of happiness and nervousness, resulting in her not knowing what to do.

"Come here." Vinnie told her and sat next to you. "This is your sister. Remember how we've been talking about her for a long time."

She eventually climbed onto the couch.

"You wanna hold her?" You ask.

She nodded.

You reached for a pillow to put near her arm so that there would be some support. After placing the newborn in her tiny lap, you wrapped her arms around the baby securely. Maria was a few feet away, recoding on her phone, and Poncho was still wagging his tail. He was now right in front of the two children, excited, but he softly sniffed them, like he instinctively knew to be gentle.

Vinnie watched with tears about to form in his eyes as he watched his family in front of him.
