Plot: you broke up with him. Six months later, you begin to feel the regret

It is easier to stay? Is it easier to go?
At the time, you thought that leaving was the right thing to do. You felt like staying in the relationship wasn't fair for the both of you. To put it simply, you felt like you and Vinnie were in two different places. And instead of seeing how things would play out, you got scared and ending things, assuming worst case scenario.
He was hurt, for sure. He cried, asking you not to do this, but you had made up your mind. From your point of view, you were thinking of his well-being in the long run.
Three months after that, Maria texted you something about coming to Seattle to see one of Reggie's cross country runs that he does for school. You responded by saying that unfortunately you couldn't because you'd be busy. Which wasn't a lie.
But it took you by surprise. For sure Vinnie would have told his parents about the breakup.
Obviously not because his parents nor his brother brought it up to you. Vinnie knew that they'd be offended to hear that the two of you broke up. Part of you felt somewhat happy that he didn't mention it. As if he was refusing to believe the reality.
Now, he seemed to be living his best life. Scrolling through your tik tok, you saw a video of him and the boys in Brazil. Back when you were dating, Vinnie briefly mentioned how he would like to go one day. Looks like finally took that trip.
And you also felt like you couldn't talk to him. If Vinnie wasn't hitting you up, then you thought that you clearly shouldn't be trying to reach out to him. Not only that, but what is he was starting to see someone else? Knowing him, it was very unlikely given how recent the break up was. Also, it took Vinnie a lot just to ask you out. But the insecure part of you kept the idea of him with someone else in your mind and you tried to get rid of it, but couldn't. Not that easily.
Maybe that was a good thing though. Because the thought of him with someone else made you upset. Upset enough for you to finally admit to yourself that you made a terrible mistake. It was time for you to stop lying to yourself.
You click on Vinnie's contact and hover over the screen for a moment before sending him a message after not talking to him for some months now.
"Hey Vin, I miss u..."
And hopefully he responds at some point.
