Plot: the relationship with Vinnie ended recently and while you're out to dinner, you also see him, seemingly on a date (requested)
———————————————————————————*Your POV*
He looked good and I hated him for it. For once he wasn't wearing loungewear, but nice pants and a fitted black t shirt that showed off the muscles in his arms.
But it wasn't what he was wearing that made me feel this way.
Vinnie looked good, meaning he looked like he was doing fine.
He was with Liza, Eamon, and Liza's friend. I don't know her but I've seen her on social media a few times. Her name is Aris. His cheeks were pink from smiling and laughing. I wanted to know what made him smile like that. I remember how not long ago I was a part of that group.
It hurt a little to somehow feel excluded.
And his stupid hair. Why did the short look fit him so well?
He sat next to Aris. Was this a double date? It would make sense if he was into her. She seemed to have a vibe that matched his. I could tell by how she looked and the clothes she wore.
She was so pretty and she had him. Vinnie who used to be mine. I envied her and kinda hated her for it.
"Y/N, stop looking at him." My friend Cierra whispered and it pulled me out of my thoughts. I turned around and looked at the people u came to the restaurant with. I could at least pretend to be a part of the conversation.
Was he happy. And how?
"I'll be back in a minute." I told my friends.
Sari was in the middle of telling a story and she looked at me with a worried expression. Cierra gave me a smile.
"Bathroom? You need me to come with you?"
"No." I said. "I'll only be a minute."
I jumped out my chair and I felt like everyone's eyes were on me. The door of the ladies room closed and I finally felt like a could breathe.
The last time I saw Vinnie, it was awkward. And thinking about how fast I got up from the table, he must have seen me. My cheeks burned with embarrassment.
If we saw each other tonight and talked, I wonder how that conversation would go. But whether we did or not doesn't matter. He was here and there was nothing I could do about it. I wanted him to be happy. Even if it was with a girl with a septum piercing that I could never pull off.
"Okay, woman up." I told myself in the mirror with a fake smile.
I stepped out the bathroom only to see Vinnie coming out of the mens stall right next to me.
Well if it isn't the consequences of my own actions.
"Hi."
Hi? How was he so calm? Like I was some sort of stranger.
"Hey Vinnie."
Up close he looks even more perfect.
"I didn't even see you earlier. Did you just come in here?"
When I didn't answer, he asked, "you alright?"
I realized that he had only noticed me because nearly bumped into each other.
"I'm happy for you Vinnie." Was all I managed to say before walking off.
My friends didn't question me when I sat back down. They must have seen Vinnie walk towards the bathroom earlier. I turned my head and saw Vinnie walking back to the table, seemed to be in his own thoughts.
