Blood.

Printed on the ground, flowing through grounds, gushing through the air, blood. It covered the once peaceful village of Goene.

Soon after Sam made sure to hand everyone with the antidote in any case they get exposed to the poision, Arin came with his battalion to attack the village and as expected and planned, the battle which was more like a war started. The word of the Empire pf Alstair having the biggest war in their history spread like wildfire across the Nations.

Hundreds of soldiers were bought to the underground basement of the mansion, injured, fatal and dead and Sam with the help of other physcians Apo had bought with him, covered as soldiers with Arin's battlaions, were handling the mess in the basement. Sam was assigned by Mile to take care of the section of treatments and he is leading the physicians along with Davika helping him

Sam and Davika were covered in blood as they carried another injured soldier and placed him on the ground and suddenly the soldier started to spit and cough blood everywhere.

Davika immediately shifted backward, shocked and then Sam shouted

"Lui, help me with this!"
A royal physician cane running quickly and then Sam turned Davika

"Hold his hands."
He said to her and she instantly abided by it and the physcian held the man's legs as Sam looked at him with sad eyes.

"What is happening? Why aren't you doing anything?"
Davika asked from Sam and Sam slowly held the body of the man into one place. He kept staring at the man with poignant eyes and little by little, the man stopped coughing, his breath faded and his body became still.

"He is no more."
Sam said with a heavy heart and Davika finally understood letting hands of the dead man go.

"It was useless even to try, wasn't?"
She asked and Sam nodded

"Yes. He is already slashed at his vitals and there was no way he could survive"
Sam was still caressing the chest of the man as if it will ease the man to breath even though he knew the soldier wasn't breathing ever again.

The man's eyes were open and blood shot and the fear of death was evident in them. Davika sighed as she placed her fingers on the man's eyes and then aided to close the eyelids so the man can rest in peace.

She felt tears brimming in her eyes even though this was like the thirtieth death they experienced within a few hours and no matter how much she tried, she could not bear the sorrow of a human dying while protecting them and their Empire. Physician Lui had already gone to aid another soldier who was injured and Davika looked at Sam with pain in her eyes before she also stood up and went to help another physucian, letting Sam finish the deeds for this man.

"Death time. 03.15 PM."
Sam noted in the notebook in his hands and then stared as Davika went away and with a heavy heart, he turned to the man who just died.

"Thank you... hero."
He whispered to the man for one last time and then pulled a white cloth above his body and left the body in the corner of the room with the rest of the bodies who sacrificed themselves in the hope of peace.

Sam did not know why he did not feel pain as he experienced from the first death that happened in this basement but he did know, deep within him, the sorrow towards every death is the same. It was like his mind was shutting his feelings away so that he can focus more on the current situation.
