The next day was colder then the last. Now Espresso made sure he locked his door since he was going to avoid Latte.

Latte obviously didn't know what was happening, and had planned to get Espresso to talk to Madeline that day.

She tried to open the door, but it was obviously locked.

"Espresso? You in there?" Latte called out.

Espresso: "Go away Latte. I have work to do."

Latte: "Oh come on it's a Sunday relax!"

*silence

Latte stepped away from the door confused. Why was he doing this? It all didn't make sense.

Latte: "Well I'm here if you wanna..talk.."

Latte walked away feeling horrible. Usually Espresso would let her in if the door was locked. This time he didn't. It was all so confusing.

"Maybe he just didn't have coffee yet."

Though, as much as she wanted this to be the case, it wasn't. Days past, to weeks, and even 2 months. Latte had given up trying to talk to Espresso.

As much as Espresso felt lonely without Latte, he had gotten so much done. He had gotten weeks with of work done in the last few days. Which meant he was free for a while.

From his Laboratory he looked out his window. He saw latte, talking to Madeline.

It was great that she looked happy. Espresso was definitely happy that Latte was doing fine.

Well that's what he thought, until he looked closer. Latte was on the verge of tears, looking like she was the one behind in her work.

Madeline was comforting her. As Latte tried to keep her emotions from bursting out.

"I feel bad..should I be doing this..?"

Espresso had to think about it. He took a sip of his coffee.

"Ugh, I'm out already? I guess I'll have to go get another one."

Espresso left his laboratory, he knew it wouldn't be a good time to bump into Latte so he was cautious.

He had gotten his coffee and hadn't seen any of them.

With a sigh he continued back to his laboratory.  Just as he was about to close his door, a foot slammed in between it.

Espresso looked up and saw it was Madeline. Usually Madeline looked happy, but now he looked mad as hell.

Madeline didn't have any armor on at this time either.

"We need to talk, Espresso."
Madeline said with a bold tone.

"Uhm..okay..?"

Espresso knew he wasn't anywhere near as strong as Madeline was, so he let him in.

Espresso: "What do you need?"

Madeline: "Espresso, have you been..avoiding Latte?"

Espresso felt a lump in his throat. He knew that he couldn't just say "oH yEaH soRrY abOuT tHaT." As if it was okay.

Espresso: "No..of course no-"

Madeline: "Espresso..tell me the truth."

Espresso: "FINE I have been but it's none of your business!"

Madeline: "Can you tell me why?"

Espresso: "...well she just like embarrasses me. She made me look horrible in front of so many people.."

Madeline: "sigh* espresso, Latte misses you so much. She is getting so behind in her work and has been going downhill ever since you left. She needs you."

Espresso: "She had plenty other people she talks to! Why does she need me?"

Madeline: "I don't know, but you need to go to her and apologize."

Espresso: "I've gotten so much done without her! She's just been getting in my way! She just teases me for amusement and for her own pleasure! I never needed Latte! It's not my fault she needed me!"

Espresso gasped and put his hand over his mouth.

"Es-you know what, fine. I thought you actually had feelings for other people. It turns out your just a bitter loner that drinks coffee to get himself away from the world."

Madeline walked off to the door and as he walked out he mumbled, "I'm disappointed."
and continued to the town.

Espresso POV
————————————-
Shit..why did I say that? We need each other and I'm too embarrassed to say it. I'm so stupid. Now I'm really alone aren't I?

I hate to hear she's like this. Maybe it's time I had a punishment of my own. Something that'll make her happy.

The only thing that will most likely make her happy as of now would be me getting hurt.

Espresso looked over to a picture of him and Latte. They were standing on a bridge where they first met.

Maybe that will do it.
