The Black Widow program taught Kendra Fennick a lot in her time of being there. Especially her friend Natalia Romanoff. Natalia was actually the one who taught her the rules to being the best fighter.
1. Never be afraid of being hit. Cause you WILL be hit. And showing that you are afraid by flinching just makes it easier for you to be hit. Also makes you look weak.
2. Don't lose focus. Lose focus and you will again, get hit. Which is not ideal.
3. Don't hold back. If you get into a fight and hold back then why are you even fighting?
4. Never make the first move. Let them come to you.
5. Don't forget to use your senses. This was a major one that Natalia had taught her. Which she was so thankful for. Listen for your enemy. Feel for the vibration of their attack. Use what you have to your advantage.
Thats the rules that Kendra followed everyday since getting free. Her friend that helped her escape made sure to give her some advice as well.
Making this rule number 6. Don't lose yourself in everything. Hold on to who you truly are. And never forget.
It's not huge for fighting. But Kendra loved that rule. It meant a lot since Hydra always wanted to wipe her of her life. But they never got too.
"So you said this is a bet. What are the stakes?" Steve Rogers asked as he stood in the gym with Kendra. Fury ended up having Coulson and Clint come down with them so they were both standing to the side awaiting the outcome of this.
"What is it that you would want, Captain?" Kendra asked with a smile. Steve's neck had a bit of a red tint as he ran through his thoughts.
"Tell me something about the future." He settled on. Kendra frowned slightly, but quickly smiled, nodding.
"Alright. And I-" Kendra stopped before grinning, her head tilted slightly towards Coulson. "If I win you need to sign Phil Coulson's vintage Captain America cards." She decided causing Coulson to squeak slightly before laughing.
"That's not really something for you though." Steve pointed out with a raised eyebrow.
"I have everything I need, Captain." She informed him before holding her walking stick up. "Now to make this a bit easier for you-" This made Clint and Coulson snort as Fury shook his head with a ghost of a smile. "-You just need to get this walking stick from me to win. That way you don't have to actually fight a women." She winked her green eye towards Steve making him chuckle.
"You really think highly of your fighting style, Ma'am." He said shaking his head.
"Well- I'm confident in myself. Now- Go for it." She encouraged, holding the stick in her open hand, palm up. Steve looked at her, tilting his head before walking towards her to grab it. Right before Steve grabbed it, Kendra tossed the stick into the air and twirled around him. Her back to his as her walking stick landed in her hand and she turned around, pushing her stick slightly to his mid back causing Steve to stumble forward slightly. She moved fast, faster than Steve had expected.
"I thought you were-"
"Blind? Yes. But my other senses work just fine if not better, Captain." Kendra interrupted Steve letting out a small laugh as he turned towards her. His blue eyes looking into her green ones- although her eyes seemed to always be looking past him. Kendra held her stick back up. "Well?" Steve moved his eyes to the walking stick that seemed to shine from the metal. His eyes narrowing at the metal stick. He moved his foot to the side, watching as her head seemed to move just slightly with him.
Kendra was listening to him. Steve noticed that and moved his hand up to fake a punch towards her. Kendra didn't even flinch as she spun the walking stick, deflecting his punch with barely any movement. Steve would be lying if he said that the stick hitting his wrist didn't hurt.
"What is that made of?" He questioned causing Kendra to smile.
"Vibranium. You should be familiar with it." Steve's eyes widen. He was told that his shield was the only Vibranium in the world. Kendra waited for a moment before smirking a bit. "Now you know you don't want to be hit by it, Captain." Steve chuckled before using his speed to try and trick her, his left hand moving out before pushing his right hand to grab the stick. Kendra brought the stick close to her before turning ninety degrees and bringing the stick down to sweep him off his feet. Steve landed on his back with a loud thud and grunt.
"YEAH! SHE LAID HIM OUT!" Clint cheered earning an odd look from Fury but Coulson and Kendra laughed. Clint looked at Fury and shrugged. "What? She took him out fast."
"Yeah- Like she did you when you met her?" Fury mentioned causing Clint to look down.
"You going to let them pick on you, Captain America?" Kendra teased as Steve stood back up. "You know- you don't have to worry about hurting me." She pointed out calmly.
"No, he just has to worry about you hurting him." Clint joked. Steve let out a huff before charging towards Kendra, only to end up on his back again.
"Let me guess." Kendra started with a simple smile. "You can do this all day."
