You look at your mother who had a sorrowful longing in her eye. It was like watching the last moments of a loved one.

A moment that you wish wouldn't come, that you know you are powerless to stop. You try to be strong, to not cry as you don't want to send them off in tears, but the thoughts of parting, that you will never see them again, hear their voice, crush you till the only thing that comes out is silent tears.

You struggled to find, to grasp any words. Nothing came. You wanted to say something, to try and make the parting somewhat sweet. But, all that was left was a bitter nothing.

You turned and ran off, leaving behind on the wind, a soft echo.

I'm sorry, take care.

You hoped she heard it but you didn't want to check if she had. For if you did you would break down and show the weakness that you wished to never show.

Tears and anguish.

You hated this place, but you hated leaving on bad terms even more. She was one of two who made that hell tolerable.

And now it's all behind you.
