After the Dark One had sent me away, I returned back to my tasks for the day. The same as every day I was to clean around the castle and prepare her meal.
When I arrived with her meal I knocked on the door, There was no sound or word from with in the room.
I knocked once more.
I heard her instructions to open the door, place the tray on the table and leave.
I did as she had asked, then returned to my room.
There I prepared for bed; I had to wake early in the morning to start preparing her morning meals.
That night I found I couldn't sleep.
Sleep would not come.
My only thoughts were of this situation I found myself in, my father, and my mother.
I caught myself rubbing the stump were my finger once was.
I couldn't sleep like this and rose from the bed. I wanted to go to the inner yard where the flowers grew.
They always calmed me.
I lit a candle and walked through the hall to the inner yard. The moon shone brightly this night.
And on that spot where the moonlight touched, sat a young girl.
