After the Dark One had sent me away, I returned back to my tasks for the day. The same as every day I was to clean around the castle and prepare her meal.

When I arrived with her meal I knocked on the door, There was no sound or word from with in the room.

I knocked once more.

I heard her instructions to open the door, place the tray on the table and leave.

I did as she had asked, then returned to my room.

There I prepared for bed; I had to wake early in the morning to start preparing her morning meals.

That night I found I couldn't sleep.

Sleep would not come.

My only thoughts were of this situation I found myself in, my father, and my mother.

I caught myself rubbing the stump were my finger once was.

I couldn't sleep like this and rose from the bed. I wanted to go to the inner yard where the flowers grew.

They always calmed me.

I lit a candle and walked through the hall to the inner yard. The moon shone brightly this night.

And on that spot where the moonlight touched, sat a young girl.
