The pulsations in the air grew louder and more intense. It started as a low thud growing till even the walls shook with each pulse as I summoned the one key ingredient to this spell.

" . . . Is that, the heart of the Dark One!" Okafor exclaimed with an intense sense of awe.

The pulsing ceased altogether as the summoning had been completed.

"Focus, keep your magic in sync, this ritual it's truly about to start."

I did not want to answer him, though he was correct. What I now held in my hands was the heart of the dark one, or rather my still beating heart; a magically and spiritually enchanted object.

It alone is a source of great power.

And my only weakness.

It was such an odd sensation to hold my own beating heart. However, in this moment my only thoughts were to seal away the darkness that crept from inside of it.

I felt the magic circulating, flowing around me like standing in the middle of a storm. I focused that energy twisted and coiling it, spinning it tighter and tighter, forming threads then strings, and final ropes all made of magic.
