"Hmm, perhaps it wouldn't be a terrible idea to teach you magic," the Dark One said.

"...huh!" I said dumbfounded.

"Yes, I do believe you may be of more use to me with instruction in magic," the Dark One uttered with a sly grin. "Very well, Cemilian, I will teach you magic," she said as she turned to me.

I heard the words she said, but I felt blank. I was at a loss for words. I felt lightheaded, but immensely light, like a knot in my chest had come undone.

It felt like a small hope of mine had come to life.

"Well, before we begin, let me ask what does magic means to you?" The Dark One said as if staring through me down to my soul.

"To me, magic is, a path towards understanding and connecting to the world, and a means by which hopes and dreams can become reality," I replied, shortly after hearing my own words I felt embarrassed by what I had said.

Just as I was becoming more self-conscious, the Dark One began to chuckle and then laugh out loud.

"Very good. Well spoken, let's begin your tutelage," she replied.
