"...Well, now is too soon to be celebrating. This is but a small step in a long road..." she said before pausing, "...but now you have a small grasp on magic. Now we shall find you a catalyst. In this room are hundreds of catalysts for you to choose from," she said.
I looked around, noticing and fully appreciating the veritable treasure trove of objects. Wands, rings, staves, books, and other such things.
"Each one is special. Just like you must choose one, it must choose you. Now close your eyes," she said.
I did as she said.
"Now remember that feeling you had as you channeled your magic. This time, I want you to look for a light amongst these jewels. Focus and feel for that light," she said.
With my eyes closed, I looked and felt for a light and warmth. I stretched and strained looking for something among the darkness.
"Relax," she said calmly, "you won't find it by stressing relax, breath deeply and slowly, be deliberate and delicate, feel yourself reaching deeper amongst the darkness," she said slowly.
There was nothing, but as I reached out amongst the shadows, a small spark appeared.
