Ch 30. A Late Date

The X-Men arrive back at the institute. They park the Blackbird back in the basement. Charles waits at the jet to see his son. He smiles when the entrance of the jet opens to see his son getting out. Y/N sprint towards Charles and hugs him.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you!"

"It's alright Y/N." Charles tries to make Y/N feel better.

They stop embracing each other and look back at the jet. Wolverine is holding Gambit's cuffs he putted on. They and the rest of the team joins Charles and Y/N. "We got you someone." Logan announces.

Charles wonders who the stranger is. Y/N decides to introduce each other. "Dad, this is Remy, aka Gambit. Remy, this is my father."

"Nice to meet you." Charles greets the thief.

"Same." Remy replies.

"He was also part of the Brotherhood and is a thief." Logan adds. "And for whatever reason, your son thinks it's a good idea to let him live with us."

"Well, let's see if Y/N is right." Charles knows Y/N is smart and wouldn't let somebody dangerous live here. "Uncuff him. We're going to my office and talk."

"If that's what you want." Piotr grabs the key and unlock the cuffs of Remy, who's happy that he's uncuffed.

"Follow me." Charles turns around and moves away with Remy following him.

Almost everybody looks unsured about Gambit. "You think he's going to live here?" Ororo asks.

"I hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me." Logan coldly states.

Y/N frowns at everybody's behavior. "C'mon, I'm sure he's a good guy. Atleast let him prove himself before you judge him."

"I agree." Hank says. "We all did things we aren't proud of or being judged by other people. We should treat Remy the same as we treat each other."

Piotr nods. "I will do that, but... I would be lying if I weren't distrustful of Gambit."

"It's fine to be skeptical, just don't treat him as a criminal." Hank adds.

Logan scoffs. "He IS a criminal!"

Hank doesn't look happy with Logan's persistence. "You know what I mean."

"Whatever. I treat him how I want to treat him." Logan walks out of the room.

"I hope he's not looking for a fight." Ororo says before following Logan. Piotr and Hank join her and continue talking about the new guy.

Y/N looks back at Scott. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Scott replies with a wide smile. He walks over to Y/N. "How about we go to the cinema? For real this time."

Y/N smiles back and blushes. "Am I hearing that you want to go out on a date with me?"

Scott blushes and let out a chuckle. "Yes. Y/N, would you go on a date with me?"

Y/N gives a peck on Scott's lips for a second. "Of course." He then realizes how late of night it is. "Let's go tomorrow. Oh, and this time I won't forget my phone."

Scott smiles. "That would be wonderful."

The next day, Y/N is in his room, changing his clothes into something more formal. A red button up with black pants will do for him. There is a knock on his door. Y/N looks away from his mirror and towards the door. "Come in!"
