Ch 71. The Solution

Back at the infirmary, Steve slowly walks over to his best friend. With shock in his eyes, he doesn't believe that he's alive. Last time, he saw him falling out of a freight train and into the unknown that was the snowy mountains. But now, after learning what happened to him according to what Y/N has told, he's still in disbelief.

The blonde sits on a chair next to him, while Y/N and Scott are by his side. In the background, Hank is checking up with Rogue while Gambit is with her. Steve looks closer to Bucky. He looks distressed and not like he used to be.

"We're busy to bring him back." Y/N says to the new recruit. "I'm planning to continue tomorrow."

"I see..."

Scott and Y/N both look at each other before looking back at Steve. "We can show you your room." Scott offers.

Steve slightly looks back. "I prefer staying here, if it's too much to ask."

"Of course." Y/N responds, feeling sorry for him. "Then we see you tomorrow."

The next day in the morning, Y/N and Scott arrive back at the infirmary room, seeing Steve leaning against the chair, sleeping, while besides his best friend. To the other side of the room, they see Rogue and Gambit, fully awake and chatting. The two decides to first check up on their teammates before moving on with the man that is vast asleep.

"You look a lot better." Y/N says as he and his fiancé walk to the two.

Gambit smirks. "She sure is."

"Hank checked up on me and he discovered something." Rogue begins speaking up. "Yesterday, during the fight. I fought that Captain Marvel woman- Never mind, you know what happened." She decides to quiet explaining and just to spit it out. "I absorbed her power."

"You did?" Scott asks.

"Like permanently?" Y/N adds.

"Yeah." Rogue replies. Like she's a natural, she begins to hover above the bed, showing that she's speaking the truth. "This is still new to me, but I feel like I mastered these powers."

"Maybe cooperate this to our next battle?" Gambit suggests. "She can kick some real ass, y'know?"

Rogue playfully scoffs. "Like I didn't already."

"I will. Thank you for sharing." Y/N kindly replies. With Rogue's new power, and having Steve by their side, things are looking brighter. Speaking of which, now to talk to the man himself.

The two wishes their good lucks before walking to Steve. With a couple of taps on his shoulder, Steve wakes up to see Y/N standing right besides him.

"Morning." He put a hand before his mouth as he yawns.

"Morning." Y/N and Scott both replies.

Scott grabs two chairs and place them by Steve. He and Y/N sit down to talk to the soldier.

"I hope you got some rest."

"I wish I did..." Steve replies to Y/N comment, who frowns sadly. "I can rest later. You want to know what I know, right?"

"Yes." Y/N answers. "We can do that later if you want."

"No, it's alright. We can talk." Steve reassures and begins sharing the info he has. "It's about how SHIELD found you in the first place."
