Ch 69. All Crumbling Down

"Countries are investigating leaks about SHIELD joining with HYDRA-"

"HYDRA top agent arrested after leaks are revealed about-"

"Alexander Pierce arrested after leaks, where he allegedly worked with HYDRA-"

"SHIELD said they will investigate itself and claims only a handful of agents were working with HYDRA-"

"Stark industries stock plummets after leaks were revealed. For now, it's unknown that Iron Man or his colleagues were aware about HYDRA-"

"Over 1000 agents has been arrested after leaks-"

"Nazi SHIELD, Hitler's star. Run them over with a car-"

"SHIELD working with HYDRA has been going on over 20 years-"

"Rumors are spreading the X-Men raided HYDRA and leaked the news. Whether this is true or not has yet to beOver half of the population lost trust in SHIELD and think they should disband-"

"Over 10 countries are prepared to drop SHIELD-"

"According to citizens in Novi Grad, they saw the attackers of HYDRA. As they describe them, they match the X-Men-"

"Is it the end of SHIELD, or will it survive after the major controversies? We will see."

Through out the entire day, every news channel across the globe has been covering the leak. Like suspected, the story spread like a wildfire. It would be crazy if you didn't hear someone talking about this, mostly with resentment.

Inside of a room in the Avengers hideout, the group are listening to the news. Inside of the convergence room, the team are seeing the mass media covering the news via the tv. Clint is clenching his fist in anger as he sits on the table. To his left are Tony, Peter and Rhodey, while to his right is Steve, Carol and Thor. Eventually, after hearing the same story over and over again, Clint turns off the tv with the remote.

"What's this going to do to us...?" Peter looks nervously at the group.

Clint stands up and looks at the group. "We still got our orders to continue our duties. Fury said this. So nothing has changed."

"Nothing has changed?" Tony raises his voice. "Are you fucking kidding me!? My reputation is going to get ruined thanks to this."

"Is that all you care about?" Carol glares at him.

"Hey! I'm a businessman first, then Iron Man, then whatever this mess of a team is. The Avengers may be independent from SHIELD, but we're still connected. I have zero intention to stay if it means getting branded as a nazi."

"SHIELD is investigating the claims. Chill." Clint thinks he's overreacting.

"Chill?! Wow, you're really stupid if you think this is nothing!" Tony mocks him.

"What are you going to do?" Steve tries to remain calm despite the situation.

"I'm holding a conference today where I announce I have zero intention to work with these freaks." Tony spat out.

"Do you intend to continue fighting alongside with us?" Thor asks.

"Depends. Only if the Avengers have nothing to do with SHIELD."

The room becomes quiet. Everyone thinks different of the situation. Clint is beyond pissed with what happened. Tony is pissed at SHIELD. Steve feels ashamed things turned this way. Carol questions how much of the leak were even true. Thor wishes things were like months ago when everything was alright and no one dead. Rhodey is willing to fight for what he thinks is right yet wonders if that is even possible without SHIELD. Peter is scared what this means to himself, to the team and his aunt.
