After a few days of the winter holiday, it's about to end. Thus, everybody who were away arrive back at the mansion. In front of the door stops a car, where Piotr stops. He, Ororo, as well of Kitty and Kurt get out of the car after the Russian stops the car. With bags in their arms, they walk in the building, where Charles greets them.

"Welcome back. I hope you all have a good Christmas and a happy new year."

Piotr merely hums, still not feeling well about the situation. "It's good to be back..." He awkwardly replies. "I will unpack. See you later."

Piotr walks away to the next floor. Ororo, Charles and the teens look at him walking away. "Are things getting any better here?"

Charles looks back at Ororo. "A little, yes." There is a silence. He looks pass Ororo to speak to Kurt and Kitty. "If you don't mind, we would like some privacy. I talk to you later."

"Alright..." Kurt replies and looks back at Kitty, who looks concerned.

They walk pass the two and get on the stairs to the second floor. They go to their bedrooms, where they see Bobby and Rogue in front of his room, talking. They look back at their friends when they hear their footsteps.

"Hey."

"Hey."

Kitty and Bobby greets each other, not sounding as happy then they wanted to be.

"You got a nice Christmas?" Rogue asks.

"Somewhat..." Kitty replies. She puts down her bags on the ground, as does Kurt. "I keep thinking about what happened."

"Zame vor me too." Kurt adds, sharing the same. "I zuppoze zings here zere zorse."

"You're surprised how things are here." Kitty and Kurt are curious what Bobby is about to say. "I talked to Y/N, and he's doing better. So even if Y/N situation is tough, he's doing a little better."

"Really?" Kitty asks.

"Yeah. Y/N remains hopeful and look at things logically."

"Well, that's good." Kitty let out a sigh of relieve.

"What about Scott?" Kurt asks.

"We haven't seen him." Rogue answers, making the other two surprised. "I think he feels so guilty that he doesn't have the courage to face any of us."

Kurt and Kitty frowns. "So... what now?" Kurt asks.

"Tomorrow, there is a funeral... from you know." Bobby says the last part quietly. "Afterwards, the X-Men continue their research into the Phoenix."

"I guezz ve can only help Y/N if ve have ze right info." Kurt wisely puts it.

It's a grim day. The sky is covered with dark clouds, with no sunlight breaking through. The graveyard is filled with mourning people. After the memorial, everybody has time to mourn Jean. Her parents, standing beside her coffin, crying their eyes out. A few feet away, her friends are standing and sitting around the area. Bobby, Kitty, Kurt and Rogue are all sitting next to each other on a stone bench. The faculty staff are spread around with Charles currently speaking with the parents.

Y/N is sitting alone on the side, his eyes closed and his hands clutching to each other, muttering to himself. Logan spots him and walks over to him. "I didn't know you prayed."

The telepath opens his eyes and look back at Logan, who sits down. "I usually don't, but if some kind of god exists, I would like Jean's soul to be at peace, even if I prefer her being here."

"I hope so too." Logan replies.

Y/N put his hands back and look at the crying parents. "I feel sorry for them... nobody deserves losing their child."

There is a silence between the two. Y/N looks back at the sky. "Do you think there is some kind of afterlife?"

"Like heaven?" Y/N hums at Logan's question. "I'm not sure. I used to believe in God, Christian actually, but I fell out of it. What about you?"

"I believe there is an afterlife. Not sure if it's in the form of heaven or soul realm, but I believe something like that exists." Y/N admits. "I probably think so because I'm afraid what happens after death. I like to believe life won't end with just death. That it continues in another world. It's kind of sad, isn't?"

"Not really." Logan replies. "Many people are afraid of that. Nobody wants their life just to end and there is nothing. It's a big reason why people chose to believe."

"Makes sense." Y/N mutters. "It's that why you don't believe anymore? Because you're not scared?"

"Maybe." Logan isn't sure that's the reason. "Not sure, but if ya want to know if I'm scared that one day, I end up dead, I'm not."

"You aren't scared of death?"

"No necessary. I have a different view of life then most people. With my mutation, I live longer then other people, y'know? Even so, I lost most of my memories and get to live another life."

"You really endured a lot." Y/N feels pity for Logan, which he notices.

"Don't feel sorry for me, kid. I'm happy with the life I got. Anyway, the reason I don't fear dead, is because I'm okay whether I'm alive or dead." Y/N looks somewhat concerned at Logan, who chuckles. "Sounds weird. Sorry if it comes out weird."

"What do you mean then?"

"Well..." Logan choses his words carefully as he looks back at Y/N. "When you are in a position, where you have someone you care for, you make sure the other person is alive, even if it will end up killing you."

Y/N knows what Logan is referring to. "I don't want your life to end if it means letting me live."

Logan let out a small, soft smile. "I promise you, I prefer not to, but... you're someone I go in a fire, kid." Y/N looks away, thinking about Logan said. The Canadian knows things got darker then the conversation originally was. "Sorry, I didn't want you to be worried about my safety too."

"It's alright." Y/N replies and look back at his uncle. "I know that most people will do that, because I will do the same to them. We really a close knitted family, huh?"

"Guess that's true." Logan replies. He looks back at the rest. Although he feels the closest to Y/N, he appreciates the students. He wants to help Charles alongside with his fellow colleagues that he either spend years or months. He then looks behind him, a few feet away, seeing Scott standing by himself, which makes Logan instantly warry by his presence.

"Hm?" Y/N notices Logan sudden stiffening and look at where is Logan looking at. Like Logan, he also stiff's as he spots Scott, who look in despair, merely looking forward towards the coffin and its owner's parents. Scott notices Y/N looking at him and lock his eyes at his for a second, before Logan steal's the telepath's attention.

"He really got some balls coming here." Logan accidently let out his claws, which shocks Y/N.

"Uncle...!?"

Logan quickly looks back at Y/N and look where he's looking at, which he notices his claws. Logan quickly put his claws back. He merely let out grunt.

"Uncle... I probably know the answer, but do you hate him...?"

It takes a couple of seconds for Logan to dare speak out against Y/N's beloved. "Yes."

Y/N hums quietly, looking back forward. "I understand."

Logan looks back at Y/N. "And what about you? What do you feel about him?"

"I'm not sure." Y/N admits. "I feel distraught. I... hate what he did. He could've prevented me getting the Phoenix. He could've prevented her death. Yet... I still care about him. However, there is still something I feel about him."

Logan wonders what that is. "And that is?"

"Resentment."
