"I got a mysterious phone call from Mr Stark, saying he had lost his child," Matthew smirked as he pulled you into his grip.

"Very funny," Your eyebrows frowning trying to move away from him.

"Sadly, it seems to be true," Matthew laughed low, not letting you go.

You took a deep breath as you tried to keep yourself calm. However on the inside, you felt everything else than calm. You were furious. You hadn't seen Matthew since your accident, by the piano bar. How had even Tony known about your encounter? You swore low. It must have been the bracelet he'd given you after you had been taken away all digital devices. It was cruel.

"I don't know what he has told you, but I do not need your help," You said, keeping your voice low and cold. You still pretty much had a fear of other people noticing you, so you had to relax your body. No one could know that something was wrong.

"I am well aware that you didn't need my help, however Mr Stark inclined my help to go and get you back to the mansion, because apparently you had turned yourself off from the world over 24 hours, which incredibly enough apparently you are not allowed to," Matthew explained.

Oh, you just knew he enjoyed mansplaining your life to you. In one way that devil costume fit him perfectly.

"Matthew I can't go back, I need to do something," You said, looking at him dead serious.

"You have to do something?" He asked, curiosity had tackled his brain.

"Something important," You repeated.

Matthew losen up his grip around you. He knew you weren't lying. You were speaking the truth. However, he couldn't just let you go. Not after Tony's phone call. Matthew needed you to meetup with Tony. It was something to gain for Matthew to here. He had to deliver you home.

"I made Stark a promise," Matthew said, trying to sound stern.

"Blame it on me," You said, looking directly at his face.

Sometimes when you were around Matthew, you liked to think that he might not always see you looking at him, but he could feel it, your gaze, your warmth. Every time you had been around Matthew it had been tension. It seemed like the two of you couldn't meet without a scandal knocking on the door.

"It's too late for that," He said, nodding his head towards your bracelet. He knew he didn't need to hide the devil from you.

You swallowed... Tony had been listening, he must've known a lot more than he was letting on. You couldn't blame him either. You hadn't exactly been very honest with him. Perhaps you hadn't been honest, but a rather better word was open. You hadn't been very open with him. He must have heard you panicking out the door from Steve, but since then it had been silent until now.

"Tony," you said staring down at the bracelet.

Of course he didn't call up, it didn't benefit him to admit he had surveillance on you. You shut your eyes.

"It's okay, I don't blame you," You said, opening your eyes.

"But I might have found something on The Beatles, a tune that we had never seen before," You said, thinking of your every word. Knowing damn well that Matthew must have been very confused.

"I need to go and see it, alone," You said.

It got quiet. Your eyes didn't leave the bracelet. He had to let you go. This was bigger than both of you, and he was the only one who truly understood that. Tony was the one asking for your help the first time, he had to let you see this through. You knew he didn't agree with the academy's decision of pulling you off the Avengers team. He believed you were ready, and he needed to show that. Now.

You suddenly felt vibrations on the bracelet, it was morse code.

"Leave," You whispered repeating his signals.

Tony was letting you leave without asking questions. You breathed out. Matthew must have understood what Tony had communicated because he let you out of his grip. You stepped away and looked at him. You knew you couldn't tell him anything. Everyone you knew was at risk for Steve's run down of you the second he realized you were gone. You didn't know what to say to Matthew.

He gave you a nod. He understood.

And off you went.
