You moved away from Bucky's lips, shutting your eyes.

"Shit," you whispered, placing your hand over your lips.

They were still there. His lips. You could feel them lingering on you. A sudden rush of panic washed over you. It was more than the sun shining in on the two of you that heated up your body, your blood was boiling. You were beyond confused by your own actions. This, this was not how it was supposed to go.

"We we're supposed to be friends," you whispered, your voice shaking as you looked up at him.

Bucky's eyes shined into yours, but his lips stood still. He did not know the rights words. He didn't know what you wanted. Did you want him to consult you? A hug? A push? Bucky always found women tricky to read, and you were without a doubt the most difficult one he had to handle. He let the silence fill up the room.

Suddenly you heard the door click, as the two of you jumped apart from each other. One on each side of the sofa. Your heart was breaking apart, as you stood up facing the door as Steve innocently entered his own home. You looked up at him, your eyes wet and lips unable to speak.

Steve dropped his bag on the floor as he looked up at you. He couldn't help but smile a little. You looked adorable. You wore one of his t-shirts. He loved it when you were wearing his clothes. He loved it when he could show others you were his. He slowly walked over to you. Your eyes were red, like you were about to cry. Steve looked over at Bucky, who gave him a slight smile. He looked tired, so did you. Both of you must had been waiting for him.

"Hey, it's okay, I'm here now," Steve smiled softly, kissing your forehead before he pulled you in to a hug.

You felt Steve's warm embrace around you. You swallowed low. You needed to tell him, but the words... they wouldn't get out. You heard steps behind you, fully aware that it was Bucky. You closed your eyes.

"I'm so sorry-" You blurred out stepping away from Steve.

"We didn't prepare breakfast for you," Bucky suddenly interrupted.

You looked over at Bucky in shock. He gave you a nod. Your lips was trembling. Bucky was covering for you.

"Are you okay Y/n?" Steve said with concern in his tone. He could see that your whole body was about to explode.

You looked back at Steve, trying to find the right words.

"She worried all night for you, she just needs some sleep," Bucky helped you out.

Ah, there it was. A migraine came singing in. Haunting every tiny corner of your brain. Why was Bucky helping you? Why didn't he just say what happened? You knew this was your fault, you initiated it. Bucky had made it more than clear in the past he has no boundaries when it comes to his affection for you. Steve knew that. Bucky didn't hide it. Except now he did. You didn't understand why.

Steve grabbed your hands, intertwining your fingers.

"I could need some sleep too," He mentioned gently looking down at you.

"I'll find my way out," Bucky smiled, as he walked out.

Why is Bucky showing such kindness in a time of cruelty?
