"Yes?" He confirmed with me, a smile drawing across his face.
"Yes!" I reassured him, reciprocating his smile.
He let out a small breath of air as if he'd been holding it in the entire time.
Suddenly, a mischievous glint appeared in Sebastian's eyes, and he leaned across, laying on top of me. I thought he was trying to initiate another round for a very fleeting moment which I was not prepared for. Then, I heard the opening of a drawer and rustling.
"Sebastian, you're crushing me." I said, crumbling under his weight pressed against my chest.
"Wait, one moment." He grunted as he continued to lean further and further across me.
My curiosity piqued, I wondered what he was up to. He seemed to find what he was looking for and climbed off me, finally allowing me to breathe. He propped himself up on his elbow, clenching something in his fist.
"Here. Give me your hand," he said, extending one of his own hands towards me.
"Left or right?"
"Left! Seriously?" He laughed and shook his head.
I sat up and held out the hand he requested. With trembling hands, he slid a delicate ring onto my finger, and to my surprise, it fit perfectly.
"It was my mother's. It was given to me when she died, and Anne got her wedding band. I always planned on proposing with it if I ever ended up deciding to marry," he explained, his fingers gently caressing the ring on my finger.
Overwhelmed with emotions, tears welled up in my eyes. I realised that it was me who had changed his mind about marriage.
"Sebastian... thank you," I said, my voice filled with gratitude and love.
I finally peered down at the ring he'd placed on my finger. It was a thin gold band with a large center diamond, surrounded by a halo of smaller diamonds. It resembled the sun, and its beauty almost took my breath away.
"I had always planned to do some elaborate, romantic, extravagant proposal when the time came to ask you, but obviously things have changed lately, and I just had this overwhelming urge to do it. I hope that's alright. I didn't mean to do it right after sex. I can do it again later if-"
"No, Sebastian. Everything is perfect. You're perfect," I interrupted, unable to contain my excitement. I leaned forward and peppered kisses on every single freckle on his face.
"I love you. I always have, and it was always going to be you," he said, attempting to reciprocate the kisses. I let a few tears fall onto his cheeks as I told him I had always felt the same way too.
We basked in each other's presence for a while longer, still both shocked and blissfully happy about what had just happened.
"I should probably go back to London tonight," I finally broke the silence, sitting up from our tight, naked embrace.
"Right," he said, looking concerned even though he knew this was coming. "Should I come with you?"
"Maybe not immediately. I probably have some diffusing to do. Mum is going to be furious, and I'm not sure if Louis has been able to hold her off for this long."
His face dropped, and a hint of sadness clouded his eyes. Sebastian's big, brown eyes looked up at me from under his long, dark eyelashes, and I knew I couldn't resist them.
"Alright, fine. I'll see if I can sneak you into Louis' for a while," I groaned, rolling my eyes.
I understood his desire to not be alone right now, but the situation was delicate. I had essentially disappeared off the face of the Earth for days. It was easier to sneak around at Hogwarts.
