"You three be safe." Herhsel sat up on his bunk. He was getting better and better.
"We will be, daddy." Maggie kissed the top of his head.
We loaded up in the truck, I had to drive because Glenn didn't know how to drive a stick shift and Maggie wanted to sit by the both of us in the middle.
"You guys just hit as many stores as you." Rick leaned into the passenger window. I looked past him to Daryl. We hadn't talked much since out night at the car.
He came to my window while Maggie, Glenn and Rick talked.
"Be back before sun down."
"Okay, dad." I teased. He didn't find it amusing. He just patted the window opening before walking off. I felt stupid.: ̗̀➛
"I got you something." I held up a pair of thongs to Maggie. Glenn blushed.
"Quit it." She laughed, but still tossed them into the trunk of the car.
I piled up my backpack.
"Just thought I should get you something nice since you're the only one around here getting lucky."
"Keep trying to pretend." She smiled.
"Pretend what?"
"Oh, we see you and Daryl always sneaking off. You guys aren't even trying to discreet."
I choked a little.
"We aren't trying to be discreet because we really aren't doing anything."
"Well he looks at you like he wants to take a bite of you," Glenn joked.
"Poor taste, Glenn," I joked back, going to climb into the drivers side of the truck. The sun was slowly creeping down. I wanted to be back before sundown like Daryl asked because I was scared of him coming after us.
"Yall going somewhere?" An unfamiliar groggy voice yelled to us. I grabbed my gun, drawing it toward the noise as if a reflex. We stepped away from the truck. Glenns eyes widened.
"Oh ho ho! Ain't this sweet, hey Glenn!" The man laughed, a gun pointed at us. Glenn looked sick. I noticed the man was missing a hand, a blade in its place.
"What? You ain't gonna say hi to your old pal Merle?"
"Merle?" my breath caught in my throat. Merle as in Daryls brother?
"See, even your pretty little friend knows me! Which one are you banging?" Merle smiled sinisterly.
We all stayed silent.
"Drop the guns, or Ill blow the gingers head off." The barrel of his gun stared me down. Glenn and Maggie immediately dropped their guns, kicking them over to him. I kept mine up.
"Come on, girl, don't make me ruin that face."
I hesitantly kicked mine over too.
"Nice, Nice," He grabbed them up, "Now, where's my baby brother, Glenn? Andrea says he was alive, so where is he?"
Andrea? I wanted to scream at him, asking if my sister was alive.
"Andrea?" Glenns voice shook.
"Oh yeah. She's back at town. I could bring her to y'all if you just tell me where my brother is."
We all stayed quiet. I wasn't even scared, all I could think of was my sister, and everyone back at the prison.
"Okay, we gotta do this the hard way then." Merle grabbed me up, dragging me to his truck with his gun still pointed at Maggie and Glenn. He yanked us into the truck, one by one. Tied us up. He kept the gun pointed at us as he started up the engine. He looked back at us, shaking his head as if he was disappointed.
"I tried to do this the easy way."
