The lump under Steven is the Desert Glass. In the Desert Glass part of my story I Explained that because the gem is in a pillow it would communicate through dreams. It connected Steven to Lapis and Jasper. At all times while he was sleeping part of him touched the lump, his arm, his feet, and his butt.
