In "We need to talk" Pearls say to Greg that fusion was "the ultimate connection between gems." Later when Rose and Greg still dance after their failed attempt at fusing, she asks Garnet "why they are still dancing when the fusion failed." Garnet said that the fusion was actually successful. Garnet has future vision and could see Steven the "fusion" of Rose and Greg.
