Garnet was the first to react to Lapis. She reacted angrily towards her. Lapis knew Garnet, Ruby, and Sapphire.
She only knew them separately though. She saw Ruby and Sapphire at one time before thy fused then she saw Garnet. She says," you three knew! You knew I was in there!". She then raises water to hit Garnet. Only Garnet. She has a whole ocean behind her and she only goes for Garnet. The picture above shows that when Lapis sees Ruby's gem she goes crazy and gets frightened.
In "ocean gem" Garnet says "don't let her separate us!" This means that she had to have fought lapis before. Ruby in "jail break" seems to have more history with Lapis because she goes "oh. It's just you." With a angry look on her face.
Garnet says," it's just a tool. It can not want anything." Tools are made of metals. The gems trapped and used as "tools" are metal gems.
