I got this theory from handgems on Tumblr. This theory comes from a conversation that Amethyst and Pearl had. Pearls thinks that they should get a fence to keep humans out. Amethyst then agrees and says that she will be the crocodile. Pearl says "you say that you will be the crocodile but you never commit." When they first had a fence Amethyst was an owl and was perched on the fence. Greg showed up looking for Rose and Amethyst talked to him then flew away leading him straight to her. This shows that Pearl blames Amethyst for Greg meeting Rose.
