The next morning I yawn as I make our lunch. Harrison behind me as he make breakfast for the both of us.

"Ready to face Jake?" I ask

"Depends."

"Meaning?" I question

"Is he going to be an arse."

"I guess we'll see," I close both of our lunch bags.

I set up the flags with Harrison, "Have you seen Jake yet?" Harrison asks

"Not yet."

"Are you working at North today?" I ask

"Yeah, Hoppo wanted me to take it easy for the start."

"I've been in the tower for 2 days in a row and it looks like I'm in the tower again today."

"He probably wants you to take it easy for a bit as well him knowing you hit for head."

I nod at Harrison, "Maybe."

I dust my hands off as we finish the last flag. We hop on the buggy to bring the trailer back to the garage.

Once at the tower and the trailer put away I hop out of the buggy, I spot Jake as he walks into the tower.

Maybe he's working in the tower too..

I give a kiss to Harrison on the cheek and he makes his way down the beach to North for the day.

I make my way up to the tower a bit nervous to face Jake.

"Hey boys." I greet as I walk in, I pause, Jake is the not one in the Tower. "Is it just us today?"

My eyes meet Jake's he looks away sadly. I bite my lip not sure if I should say anything else.

"Chappo is coming in later today." He tells me busy with something.

"Look Jake...." I pause for a second revalidating my words, "I just want to make sure you're okay..."

"I'm fine." He tells me, no emotion in his voice.

"You don't sound fine."

"Olivia and I are on a break..."

"What?"

"We thought maybe we needed some time to think."

"Jake..." I put a hand on his shoulder.

"Please. I don't want to hurt you again." He moves away from me sitting in his chair.

"Jake that wasn't your fault, you didn't mean too. I'm okay."

"All I do is hurt all the people around me."

"That's not true," I take his hands in mind, "You are my best friend and I don't know what I would do without you."

He looks up at me his eyes glossy, "Do you really mean that Tess?"

"Of course I mean it." I pull him in for a tight hug.

He broke free from the hug,"We better get to work huh?" Jake smiles through tears as he wipes them away. "People will soon start entering the beach."

I nod giving a soft smile to him as I sit down in my chair. There's a couple minutes of silence before I break it, "You know, if you apologize to Harrison he will forgive you. He not like you think he is."

"Are you sure?" Jake questions

"Very sure. If not I'll talk to him."

The day has been pretty slow for far, the sun is away which means the tourists don't want to play.

"Looks like it's about to rain I reckon." Jake says as he leans a bit to look in the sky.

"Maybe." I too look over a bit

The swells get bigger, I'm expecting for more surfers to show up.

"See gotta keep a start keeping an eye out for swimmers." Jake's points out as he now looks through the binos

"Looks like the swells are getting bigger." I point out as I snack on some fruit.

"Let hope the sun doesn't come out, then more beach goers will come to the beach, meaning hecticness."

I groan suddenly, "I miss saving peopleeeee." I lean back onto my chair aggressively, spinning around. "I wanna be out there again in the water."

"Well maybe you will be tomorrow."

"God I hope so, I love being in the tower don't get me wrong. But I wanna be out in the action before I'm stuck in the tower because I won't be able to go on my stomach." I pat my growing belly.

Jake just laughs

"I miss this," I tell him, "I miss us being this close, being best friends." I give a light smile

"Me too."

"I hope you work things out with Olive."

"I hope so too..." he trails off

"I'm sure it will Jake." I give a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder before looking back to the beach.

10 minutes pass by and the thoughts of Hayden start to flow in. I groan loudly making Jake jump giving me a wtf look, "oh sorry, it's just I've been hearing stuff and seeing shit." I start to give him the update, "And I have hyperemesis gravidarum which just means I'm lossing to much weight and it's fucking with my mind because of it."

"Wait wha—"

I cut him off as I continue to ramble, "And I've been seeing Hayden. And don't get me started!" I groan putting my hands on my head, "He's living in my head rent free."

"Wait. So you've been seeing him? You sure it's hallucinations?" Jake trys to confirm

"Yes, he always disappears when I look again. Plus I keep having hallucinations of him in our apartment but once Harrison was there Hayden was gone."

"Damn. That's some scary shit."

I nod, "I LOVE being pregnant." I scuff, something is always wrong with me. "So now I'm eating a thousand small meals during the day, so if you wonder that's why."

Jake gives a chuckle, "Alright."

"Don't be making fun of me either." I point at him squinting.

He puts his hands up in defeat, "Don't have to worry about me mate."

"Good."

~~

Finally on my lunch break; the sun comes out and the wind dies down. As well as it started to get a bit busy down south and a bit at north but it's 2 and a half hours before closing time.

The temperature starts to rise even when the sun is low in the sky, I switch into my bikini to cool down in the water in this summer heat.

I leave the tower knowing that Chappo, Harries, Jake take over.

I submerge myself in the cool water and glide through it then turning onto my back. I just float along where the water takes me.

Hayden still haunts my mind, even with me working and my mind busy. He finds a way to infect my brain, I know they are just hallucinations but the doubt is in the back of my mind.

I breathe in slowly closing my eyes trying not to let these thoughts get to me. I glide my hand on the surface of the water feeling its smoothness.

Then all of a sudden, a wave crashes onto my face sending water up my nose. I rush to my feet coughing up the salty liquid that stings my nose.

"Thanks for that." I curse at the water wiping my face, a sneeze soon coming after.

I sigh as I now sit along the waters edge looking at teenagers along the rocks. I hear their laughs as they jump into the water.

I'm glad the water isn't to rough anymore or there would be a lot of cuts to deal with.

My eyes wonder around the beach. Then. I see him. In the distance up on the hill I watch as he stares at me. Hayden.
