Once the day at the beach comes to a close, we reluctantly start packing up, knowing we'll be leaving tomorrow. The thought of leaving this paradise makes me wish we could stay forever. The sun has dipped low, casting a golden glow across the water, and I take a deep breath, trying to soak in every last bit of the moment. As Harrison folds the beach towels, I sit back, letting the warm breeze kiss my skin, wishing we had just one more day. "I wish we didn't have to leave," I mutter, watching the waves crash softly against the shore.
Harrison glances up, his expression soft. "I know, love. But we've had an amazing time, haven't we?"
I nod, smiling at him. "Yeah, we have. But I could definitely stay longer."
He laughs, walking over to me, sitting down beside me on the sand. "We'll come back, I promise. This place will always be here, waiting for us."
I lean against him, my head on his shoulder, as we both sit in silence for a moment, just listening to the sound of the ocean. It's peaceful, but the reality of leaving looms over us. Tomorrow's a new adventure, but part of me wishes I could hold onto this moment just a little bit longer.
After a few more moments of silence, we finally gather our things and make our way back to the hotel. The walk back feels a bit longer, like the weight of leaving the beach hangs in the air. We pass by the soft glow of the restaurants lining the path, their lights casting a warm, welcoming glow against the night sky.
As we reach the hotel lobby, the familiar coolness of the air conditioning hits me, and I let out a sigh. The peacefulness of the beach seems so far away now. Harrison gives me a soft smile, his hand on the small of my back as we walk through the lobby.
"Ready for a quiet night in?" he asks, his voice warm and a little playful. "I was thinking we could get some room service and just relax."
I nod, grateful for the idea of winding down after such an eventful day. "That sounds perfect," I say, my voice a bit wistful as I glance back at the hotel's massive windows, looking out at the darkness of the beach we've just left behind.
We head up to our room, and Harrison presses the keycard against the door. The room is just as we left it, a sanctuary from the world outside. I take a deep breath, already feeling the tension of the day start to melt away.
"I'll order dinner," he says, heading for the phone. "You relax. I've got it."
I sit on the bed, pulling my legs up underneath me, as he gets to work. It's a small moment, but one that feels right after everything..after the sun, the water, and the quiet moments spent together.
As he finishes placing the order, he comes over to me, sitting on the edge of the bed with a soft grin. "You okay?"
I nod, snuggling closer to him. "I'm more than okay. This has been...perfect. Thank you for everything."
He leans down, pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead.
He lingers for a moment, his lips warm against my skin, before pulling back just enough to look at me. His fingers brush absentmindedly over my arm, tracing light patterns. "You don't have to thank me," he murmurs. "I just want you to be happy."
I smile, resting my head against his shoulder. "I am."
A comfortable silence settles between us, the sounds of the ocean faint through the open balcony doors. The distant hum of life outside, waves lapping against the shore, faint laughter from other travelers feels almost dreamlike.
After a moment, he nudges me lightly. "You should get comfy. You're knackered."
I roll my eyes, but he's not wrong. The day has been long, my body exhausted in the best way. With a dramatic sigh, I push off the bed and grab one of his shirts from the suitcase, slipping it on before climbing back under the covers.
