Chapter Thirty Seven

I go to the tower to get my stuff after watching and keeping an eye on the man for the lifeguards. The man was taken away by the cops.

I grab my things. "Hey Olivia you okay?" I hear Jake's voice I look up to see him standing on the top of the steps.

"Yup, just feel a bit violated." I tell him giving him a reassuring smile. "You still up for lunch after your shift?" I ask

"Totally. You sure you're okay?"

"Yes I'm fine." I laugh, "They caught the guy so I'm all good."

"Alright. Well I gotta get back to work."

"Okay see you at the tower around 12:30." I smile

"See ya." He smiles then heads back into the tower.

I head up the cement stairs by the tower and walk to the Café.

"G'day. What can I get ya?" A girl ask who's behind the counter.

"Could I get a large blue raspberry lemonade please."

"Sure is that all?"

"Yes."

She tells me the price and I give her the money.

I wait for a bit and my Lemonade is ready.

I sit at one of the tables and sip my drink through the straw as I look out to the tower.

"Mind if I sit?" I look up to see Harrison giving me a warm smile.

"Oh Harrison hey. Yeah sure." I smile

"Saw you come in." He states

"You on your break?"

"Yup, but only for..." he looks at his watch, "Another 10 minutes."

"Okay cool. So how was work so far? Heard you were watching South corner."

"You know the usual. People not listening to the signs and not knowing how to swim."

"I don't know why people pick Bondi to be the beach they learn how to swim."

"Me either." Harrison chuckles. "So what about you? I heard you had one heck of a visit here today."

"Yeah but I'm glad they caught him...how's Tessa?" I ask randomly.

"She and the baby are doing fine. Both healthy."

"That's good....Do you think I should keep the surprise from her?"

"It's up to you. I think you should because she'll be on the moon when you tell her."

I chuckle, "True. What about Jake? Should I surprise him? Or tell him today?"

"Tell him because you need him involved."

"Good point."

He looks at his watch, "Wow time flys. I gotta go." He says standing

I stand, "Alright. Have a good rest of your day." I smile

He gives me a hug, "You too." He tells me pulling away. I smile at him and he leaves.

I sigh looking at my phone. "Well..I got and hour and a half of me time." I tell myself. I sit back down and sip the sour and sweet liquid.

After I'm finished my drink I sit in the Café for a bit then head down the beach this time on south end. I have about a little more then half and hour left.

Two teens run past me knocking me over. "Oi!" I shout they all stop, "Watch where ya goin yeah?" I get up brushing the sand off me, "And you can't swim here." I point at the sign that they were going to run past. "Between the flags." I point over to the flags

They look at me then the sign. They shrug and still go to the water.

"Are you stupid." I say under my breath, "Obviously." I roll my eyes, "Don't day I didn't warn you." I flick my towel down and lay on it. I apply my sunscreen and sigh laying.

I groan sitting up. I watch the three boys as they head into the water laughing.

I look at the buggie to see Deano and Ryan.

Deano and Whippet.

"The three boys in the back, ya can't swim here." Deano says through the speakers.

They don't seem to listen as they keep swimming soon there all caught in a rip. "I tried to warn you."

Deano and Whippet both go in and I watch as another buggie tares it's way down the beach.

It stops and the unfamiliar lifeguard grabs the board I watch as the camera man follow him. "This is so weird watching outside to what the camera sees...."

He goes in and starts paddling quickly while Whippet waits with two teens holding on his board.

The unfamiliar lifeguard gets to them and takes the one boy. The lifeguard has brown hair with a orange tint to it and chocolate brown eyes.

He comes out of the water his hair now a deep brown.

"Thanks Reidy." Whippet says

He gives him a smile and head to his buggie.

"Reidy. Hm I did see him at the BBQ but didn't really get to know what his name was." I tell myself.

I lay back down looking up at the clear blue skies. I've never felt more relaxed and safe really. I have lifeguards like basically right beside me. I lay on my bag just in case someone wanted to try and steal it.

I look up that the sky for a while listening to the waves crashing on the shore, people talking and laughing.

My eyes drift shut.

I feel someone shake me. I wake up with a start my heart pounding in my chest.

I open my eyes to see Whippet over me, "You've been in the sun for more then you should." I sit up. "I just didn't want ya to get burned or heatstroke."

"Oh, thanks Ryan." I yawn rubbing the tiredness out of my eyes.

"No problem." He smiles then makes his way back to the buggie.

I get up stretching, my back cracks a bit. I grab my phone and look at the time. "Shit!" I quickly grab my things and run up the beach.

I see Jake waiting outside the tower for me. "I'm..sorry, I'm late..." I tell him breathing heavily, "I kinda...fell asleep." I breathe out.

Jake chuckles, "Thats quite alright." He smiles, "How about we sit under the step?"

"Sounds good." I smile making my way under the steps.

I sit down still breathing a bit heavily. "You know you didn't have to run up the beach for me." He chuckles

"Well I didn't want you to worry if something happened to me." I breathe

"Well I appreciate your concern." He laughs, "You're a pretty independent women. You definitely know how to kick arse."

I giggle, "This is true."

"So." He takes a bite of his carrot, "What did you want to tell me?"
