Chapter Forty Eight

Jake and I get out of the car.

I watch as Harrison's eyebrows frown as he spots Jake.

He puts Tessa down. "What the hell are you doing here." He asks sternly puffing his chest out.

I go in front of him, "Harrison it's okay, everything is okay now!"

"Doesn't give him the right to basically cheat on you." Harrison barks looking at Jake who also has his chest puffed, damn...I shake my head clearing my distracting mind set.

"I know but he also saved my life today and not to mention the other times too."

Harrison eyebrows switch to confusion. "What happened today?" He asks

"I almost got bitten by a Eastern Brown Snake. I tripped on a rock trying to slowly back away from it and fell. Jake was brave enough given that he is completely petrified of snakes, he scooped me up and risked getting bit to save me..."

Harrison looks at Jake squinting. "It's true, I saw it!" Tessa says stepping in.

My brows flick at Harrison with supremacy even though Tessa has not seen the whole thing.

I mouth thank you while Harrison is looking at Jake. She gives a wink.

"Hm. I believe Tessa's witnessing."

"But not mine?! I was the one who almost died!" I squeak

"Well sometimes people say things that aren't true to protect their so called "loved ones"."

"Oh come oonnnn Harrison. You can't believe I would do that."

"Who knows."

"Well now I know not to trust your judgment." I tell him rolling my eyes a bit, only joking.
I cross my arms, "So you gonna give him a bloody nose or are you going to forgive and forget?" I ask

"The 'giving bloody nose' is tempting.." He ponders, "Can I do both?"

"No! And I rather you not actually give him a bloody nose." I screech "I only can." I smile, Jake's smirk disappears. "I'm only joking." I laugh patting his chest.

"Well I hope so..." He laughs

"I would never." I smile pecking him on the lips.

"Want me to take you out for a drink?" Jake asks

"Oh I don't know."

"Nope, Nope. NOPE!" Tessa shouts, "She is not having an alcoholic drink!"

"I'm sorry but she takes care of my sorry ass." I tell him pursing my lips together, giving him a half smile shrugging.

"Shirley Temple?" Jake asks shrugging as he cocks his head.

I giggle, "Sounds good." I smile

He puts out his arm, and I take it linking mine with his.

"Oh. I actually have to drop these Surf boards off first. Do you want to come with? Or just...?"

"Oh okay. You can go, I'm actually gonna go freshen up." I smile

"Alright. I'll come pick you up." He smiles, "In like ten minutes."

"Okay." I smile

He pecks me on the cheek and gets in the car and drives off. I smile dazed by Jake as I watch him leave.

"You have it bad for him don't you." Tessa says I jump thinking that she gone upstairs already.

I turn quickly, "Maybe..." I blush.
