I put all my feelings aside, well at least try too. My job being more important. On my break I go to the women's change room for lifeguards only and cry until 3 minutes before my 30 minute break is over to stop crying and rinse my face, and make it look like I haven't been crying.
I look at myself in the mirror and you can hardly tell I cried.
I smile at myself, knowing that smiling triggers hormones that actually make you feel happy. I laugh a bit making more of those hormones to work.
Come out of the change room with a smile on my face in case any one is near.
"Oh hey Gigs." Jesse greets on his way to the change room.
"Hey Jesse!" I smile, "What you up to?" I ask
"I'm actually heading to do some surfing after I get some lunch." He says
"Oh cool! Sounds fun." I smile
"Did you have any lunch?" He asks me
"Oh yeah, I had that a while ago." I lied I never brought one, to depressed to even bother to eat
"Good, good." He pauses and looks at me closely studying my eyes.
"Have you...been crying?" He asks
"Oh this?" I ask pointing at my eyes, "I stubbed my toe on the wall." I tell him trying to think of a quick response. "It hurt so much that I cried a bite." I laugh, "I'm such a wuss aren't I?" I laugh nervously rubbing the back of my neck.
"Did it hurt that bad? Maybe you broke it." He looks at my feet which are in thongs. "Which toe is it?" He asks, "None of them look red, or purple." He points out.
"I have a low pain tolerance." I tell him
"You do? Oh, when you dislocated your shoulder you weren't screaming like all the others do. Seems to me like you have a high pain tolerance."
"Oh would you look at that my break is over. Better get goin." I start speed walking, "Have a good lunch Jess..oh and surf!" I tell him
"Doesn't seem like you stubbed your toe at all. No limping?!" He shouts
"It feels better. Those beautiful eyes of yours healed it!" I tell him loudly as I'm farther away.
I hear him chuckle.
I quickly walk into the tower to see Harrison now at the binos as that's his and Harries shift now.
I stop. Looking for Reidy, "There you are."
I jump putting a hand on my chest.
"Cheese and Crackers Reidy, you scared me."
He laughs, "Sorry. Ready to go down to North?" He asks me
"Yup." I give him a smile and follow him down the steps.
"Where were you?" He asks
"Oh I was just talking to Jesse outside the change rooms." I tell him
"What were you doing in the change room?" He pauses, thinking about what he just asked. "Actually don't answer that. Girl stuff is girl stuff."
I laugh taking the free excuse.

I pack up with Reidy, surprisingly having him as my partner all day.
I put the last sign in the trailer, I get a dizzy spell, it's a good amount a wait to do that to you.
"You alright Giggles?" Reidy asks me
I shake my head a bit to snap out of it. "Yeah I'm good." I smile
"Alrighty let's get these in the tunnel." He says sitting in the buggy, I join him sitting in the passenger side.
Reidy drives up the beach. The world sways a bit I grab hold of the handle on the roof using my other hand on the seat to keep me steady.
Once we put the signs away we head to the change rooms. We go our separate ways him going in the boys and me going into the girls.
After done changing I get out the change room. My mood saddens a bit, remembering how Harrison would be standing outside the change rooms with a smile on his face as he leans on the pillar.
My head lowers a bit and I sigh.
I hear the door open and I look behind me to see Reidy come out of the boys change room. I give him a smile.
"Good job today." He smiles
"Yeah you too." I beam
The world sways a bit subconsciously I put my hand up to my head and close my eyes. I stumble back feeling my skin go pale cold.
"Woah, woah, hey." I feel his arm wrap around my upper back my legs go Jelly a bit, my head rolls back.
Everything goes black for a moment.
I moan a bit coming conscious, "What happened?" I ask weakly. I notice I'm layed down my back up against the Pillar.
"You blacked out." Reidy tells me, two fingers on my wrist. "Did you eat anything today?" He asks
"No..." I struggle to breathe feeling so winded. I lay my head back on the pillar.
"Drink anything?" He asks
"I had a glass of orange juice this morning, but that's it."
"No breakfast?"
"No.." I tell the truth for medical reasons if I lie he might think it's something worse then dehydration and lack of nutriment.
"How did you last the whole day?" He asks thinking out loud, "Okay come on. Your gonna have dinner with me." He says getting me to my feet.
"No you don't have to I'm fine." I tell him a little out of it. I start to lean to the side closing my eyes.
He steadies me, "Your clearly dehydrated and have no food in your body for energy. You're having dinner with me." He puts my arm around the back of his neck.
"But don't you have better things to do..." I ask now really not thinking of what I'm saying at all. My mood speaking for me. "Just leave me..." I say quietly. Then I can see my mum, dad and my unborn baby in haven....
"Nothing is more important then your health. Plus I was thinking about eating out anyways."
