"My Wrath." Mara said, walking up to Petra from where she was located at the little outpost in Rheilsilva.
"My Queen!" The woman exclaimed, not at all expecting to see the monarch here, especially not with the foothold the Taken had this week.
At least, not without valuable protection, like her girlfriend.
"What do you need your grace? Anything I can help you with?" She asked, keeping her hands at her sides and making sure she didn't step out of line.
Mara had just started to release her from the metaphorical dog house so to speak, finally after weeks of cold shoulders and glares did the Queen seem to be letting up but she didn't want to risk it, not now when she had offered her so many chances to redeem herself.
Mara despite herself found amusement in her Wrath's tense shoulders, knowing instantly why she was so strung up but if she was being honest she don't have time to dwell on that because she had much more important matters to deal with.
"Have you seen the Guardian today?" She asked, tapping her foot up and down and letting the woman before her know truly how anxious she really was without saying it outright, "I can't find her anywhere and she's not at the Tower."
Petra furrowed her brows, "You haven't seen her at all? What about this morning?" She asked.
Mara waved her hand dismissively, "Gone. I woke up and she wasn't anywhere in our chambers. I was wondering if maybe she came out here to patrol with you, but if you haven't seen her either then..."
"Maybe she's on Neptune." Petra offered, not wanting to jump to conclusions right off the bat and certainly not wanting to say anything that upset the Queen, "Perhaps Osiris called her away for something regarding the Veil, or maybe even her team needed something and she's actually down in the Last City, not the tower."
Mara sighed softly, "You're probably right, but this is so unlike her. She never leaves without informing me where she's heading."
"Maybe it's a surprise." Petra shrugged, "It is still the Dawning. Perhaps she snuck out to get you another present. Trust me it wouldn't be the first time she's spoiled someone with gifts. Do you know how many cookies she baked for everyone this year? She went a little overboard."
Her words actually drew an amused smirk from the Queen, "Don't I know it. Our kitchen was caked in cookie ingredients for over a day she baked so many."
Petra snorted, "Sounds like her. But yeah, she probably just got a last minute idea for a gift for you and went out to grab it, nothing serious."
Mara sighed in exasperation, shaking her head fondly at the thought alone, "I swear if that woman gets me one more present."
The Queen's Wrath grinned, "Can you blame her? She has to try and top you. After all, you did give her a promise bracelet, how do you compete with literally promising that you'll one day marry her?"
Mara narrowed her gaze at the woman before her, "How do you know about that? It's only been a few days and she's rarely left my side. I'd know if she told you."
Petra merely shrugged her shoulders, a shit eating grin across her face as she responded to the Queen, "Last night she dropped by and gave me the very last of the cookies. She wasn't in any armor though and the whole time we were talking, she couldn't stop fiddling with that bracelet. Naturally I was curious as to why but as soon as I looked down, I knew what it was."
"You don't let anyone just walk around with your royal emblem stamped across their bare wrist tied to a heart, Queen Mara..."
"Yes well, I'd appreciate it if you kept this on the down low. We don't need her to be stormed by the entire awoken civilization demanding answers that she will no doubt feel uncomfortable answering." Mara said, causing her Wrath to nod her head in acceptance.
