Mara sighed under her breath as she watched her girlfriend sleep.

The Queen was resting on her side, just like the Titan was with her left arm underneath her head and her right gently caressing her lover's naked waist. The awoken woman couldn't help but follow the way the Young Wolf's chest rose and fell with each breath she took.

She could tell that it was almost time...

For hours she's had the feeling deep in her gut, she knew that her lover would be called to arms, soon...

And even though she knew her lover was the toughest out there, even though she knew her Wolf could kill gods it did nothing to stop the panic she felt.

The sense of loss...

She couldn't even go to sleep last night, she had spent the entire night tossing and turning, staring at the ceiling and watching her girlfriend sleep soundly while she remained wide awake.

Last night, after midnight when she had realized sleep wouldn't be coming to her she had sent a message to her Council and Petra so when they woke up this morning they'd know not to expect her for the entire day.

Because she refused to spend one of her girlfriend's last days on this side of the portal stuck in meetings.

Not when she could spend it with her...

She knew that realistically she shouldn't be pawning off her Queenly duties to Petra and her Techeun's as much as she has these past few months, but the love she felt for her Wolf far outshined her love of being Queen nowadays.

She's no longer jumping at the chance to solve her peoples problems anymore, as terrible as that sounds. Throughout the day she simply counts down the minutes until she can see her girlfriend again, heart beating out of her chest in joy when she finally lays eyes on her again.

These past few months, Petra and her Techeun's have been more the ruler of the Awoken then she has, and the monarch really couldn't find a single ounce of her body that cared, not when she got to spend that time with her lover.

But now that they were here, at the end of the road so to speak...the only regret she has is she hadn't spent more time with her...

She couldn't believe that the End was already here, these past few months since her brother had gone through that portal have just flown right by, and during that time her girlfriend has made so much progress with herself too.

But now the fate of the universe was at stake, and once again her love must answer the call.

But the Queen didn't want her to...

For the first time in centuries, possibly even longer Mara was paralyzed with fear. Worry deeply rooted into each and every bone in her body as her mind kept coming up with wild scenarios of what could happen.

Scenarios that involved her girlfriend not—

The Queen shakily exhaled and shook her head, not willing to go down that train of thought again. The Titan would be fine, she's killed every Hive God in existence, slain Nezarec, destroyed Rhulk and even had the power to take down a Worm God.

Her girlfriend would be fine...

But she couldn't lose her, if god forbid something happened out there, if the Witness was ready for them all, if that abomination somehow won...

Mara would never forgive herself. If her Wolf...died, she knew it would be the event that would destroy her, the tipping point for the unbreakable Queen of the Awoken.

She'd never recover from that loss, and she doesn't think she'd have the strength to carry on in life without her other half...

Not like she'd last long after that anyways, for the Witness would surely win after they took out her girlfriend...
