The bond that is shared between a ghost and a guardian is something that can't be replicated easily.

Lightbearers all across Sol have very different relationships with their ghosts, some are best friends, others merely tolerate one another but most would tell you it's a bond that is so special to them, they wouldn't trade anything in the universe for it.

Being able to feel one's emotions, one what has been with you since your rebirth, who has stood beside you through everything that life has thrown at you, it brings people together, forges a connection built on trust, companionship and love.

A Guardian and their Ghost, a Ghost and their Guardian...

Exactly how The Traveler intended them to be.

Two half's of the same whole, the last two pieces of the same puzzle, fit together in perfect harmony.

Both are bonded together for one reason and one reason only, they can make each other better, feed off of one another and become partners.

Ghosts bring out the best in their Guardian's, and Guardian's bring out the best in their Ghost, it's one of the big reasons why they spend so long, centuries looking for the right person.

Because somewhere out in the universe, there's a small part of every ghost that calls out to them, that guides them to their guardian, their perfect other half.

And once they find that person, once they form that bond it is quite unbreakable.

The only thing that can separate such a primal force, is...death.

Ghosts and Guardians in the past have lost their other half's before, it was always bound to happen with the type of lifestyle they live.

Eris Morn.

Osiris.

Cayde.

Zavala...

They all understood that feeling, that one moment where you feel that bond snap in two and the only thoughts left in your head are your own.

How lonely it feels...

Cayde was even reunited with Sundance, only for him to be pulled away from her, again.

It's pain that only Guardians and Ghosts can understand, that feeling of sorrow, despair and utter loneliness you get as you watch your partner die in front of you, as you feel that bond snap in two.

Your other half forcefully pulled away from you...

The Young Wolf...knows she'll never forget that feeling, not as long as she still lives...

Watching as her friend, her partner, her ghost plummet to the ground below her, she rushed over to him just as soon as she shook off the shock of losing her light, again.

She's pretty sure she screamed, but she couldn't hear it if she did, she couldn't hear anything, all her senses were dialed in on how Ghost wasn't moving, he was gone, gone gone gone gone—

As soon as she crossed the distance between them she kneeled on the ground. Reaching down with trembling hands, eyes blown wide she lifted Ghost's shell into her palms, his shell that had no trace of light left inside, no sign of life, no witty comeback, no sarcasm, no—

"Ghost?" Her breath stuttered in her chest as she whispered out to her friend, praying that he heard her, that this was just some sick joke, that he'd suddenly open his optic for her and tell her how much he loved her just one last time.

"No. No no no no no no no no." She whimpered, tears now flowing down her eyes again, for the second time within the hour, "No please! Please don't leave me too! I-I need you!! Please don't leave! Please c-come back to me!!!" The Titan only sobbed harder when she got no response, her mind empty, with only her own thoughts to accommodate the space.
