CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED
AND SEVENTY FOUR

-: fifth year :-

── IN WHICH THEIR EXAMS
ARE ALMOST OVER

. . .

The exam period during which the fifth years took their O.W.L.s somehow seemed to drag on for years but disappear in a quick rush of simply days and hours at the same time. Somehow. None of them could explain it, how the lengthy revision schedules and the calendars upon which they crossed off each of their exams dissolved into nothingness and the late nights and early mornings were something they had gotten used to, even if it was beginning to wear on them.

The end was in sight, now, and there were few hurdles to pass before they were free to relax - at least a little more - until it came to getting their results and taking N.E.W.T.s in September. But before those painstaking days during which they would wait to collect the owl post every morning until that fated day. Their lessons after exams finished would be more relaxed, most likely non-existent to a point as they awaited the summer, their free time would be plentiful and not crammed full of so much revision it felt like their brains would explode.

It was near, that time of sun and relaxation. Lunch and new found free time on the lawn, days down by the lake, the last Hogsmeade visit, Quidditch friendlies (although Harry entirely doubted that any Quidditch friendly with Aviana would end up with more than half of the other team in the Hospital Wing) and late evenings walks evading Umbridge and her minions past curfew.

And whilst the reality of their dreams of annoying Umbridge and ensuring she didn't catch them out of common rooms were still far from them, Harry and Aviana had found another way to upset Umbridge, and she could do entirely nothing about it. And they would relish in it.

Harry usually shied away from it, the way people looked at him. Like he was insane, or some kind of miracle, and that they were in awe of his very presence. More recently, it had been the former; since Dumbledore announced that Harry had witnessed the return of Voldemort and the ruthless murder of Cedric Diggory both the Ministry and the Daily Prophet had ensured of that.

By contrast, Aviana was used to it, and flourished in it. Like always, there were moments when she certainly hated the fact that people paid attention to her - when her father was jailed and not long after, when he broke free - but she was an interesting person, why shouldn't she draw attention to herself? That's why she had felt as though she could agree with Harry, why she could disobey Umbridge and host loud shouting matches that usually ended with hexes cast and her walking away triumphant.

Either way, the attention drawn to the both of them had certainly done it's best for them in exam seasons. It seemed as though news of the uproar initiated by the pair had reached the Hogwarts school board and by proxy, the O.W.L. examiners. Every part of Harry's life was cast in a veil of mystique, rumours about what he had done, what he could do, and it was no wonder that he would be asked about that. Despite the accusations of insanity, he remained, and forever would be, the Boy Who Lived.

Aviana was less of an enigma than she perhaps might of hoped. No, Aviana's abilities, attitude and intense disdain had been made clear to all those involved in overseeing activities in Hogwarts, and especially after Professor Marchbanks boasted to her fellow invigilators that she had a student who could do wandless magic, it became clear that for both Harry and Aviana that their practical exams were going to be following a slightly different cause to the normal curriculum.
