-Start of Chapter 43-

A/N POV

The House of ENHYPEN had never been the same after that night. That fateful night when Prince Sunghoon came rushing in, cradling Lady Y/N's lifeless form in his arms. They had never seen him like that.

It terrified them. They had never witnessed their brother so vulnerable, so terrified. His voice, usually steady with unwavering confidence, cracked with desperation as he called for help. It was a sight that left them all reeling.

It was as if the weight of the world had collapsed on his shoulders. The way his hands trembled as he held Y/N, his knuckles white from the grip, was an image they couldn't erase from their minds. The once composed prince appeared on the brink of breaking, shattering their perception of him.

In that single moment, they knew something was terribly wrong.

For the first time, they felt fear. A fear of something... something lurking in the shadows of the unknown.

~~~~~~~
That night had terrified Jungwon the most.
Despite being the leader, for the first time he felt vulnerable. He knew... he knew something was about to happen. Something big.
Something he couldn't do anything about. And it pained him.
He experienced emotions he had never felt before.
Everyone's power that came with being a vampire benefited them. A silver lining to their cursed existences. A gift...
But for Jungwon, it was a curse. It was a burden, weighing him down. He never figured out if his power made him strong or weak.
The constant barrage of emotions from every servant, every guard, even his own brothers, crushed him.
Perhaps it was this power that numbed him to all feelings.
Perhaps it was this power that made every emotion so excruciating to feel.
Ever since Lady Y/N had arrived, everything started to crumble. His brothers dedicated most of their time for that girl.
That weak girl that had murdered the only one person that could bring him peace.
It infuriated him how one person could shroud all light to his freedom. It enraged him how his brothers couldn't see they were wasting their time on her.
Since she came, chaos reigned. Jungwon watched as his strong brothers started to falter, irrationally succumbing to her presence.
He felt Sunoo's pain from unrequited love.
He felt Jay's restlessness over his ailing patient.
He felt Heeseung's stress for the girl he had come to see as a sister.
He felt Jake's constant worry for his newfound companion.
He felt Niki's anguish as she stirred memories of his painful past.
He felt Sunghoon's fear for the one he had come to cherish as his whole world.
Every emotion pierced him like a dagger, each more painful than the last. It was as if Lady Y/N's presence amplified the burden he bore, making it almost unbearable. And in that dark, suffocating reality, Jungwon could only see her as the source of their collective suffering.
He kept everything bottled up. Until that fateful day when they decided to save Lady Y/N's brothers. How could she allow his brothers to risk their lives for people who had never cared about her?
It scared him...
Terrified him...
The fear of losing his loved ones once more.
He was petrified that history would repeat itself, forcing him to endure the agony again.
The agony of losing his only family.
The same excruciating pain he felt the day his sister sacrificed herself for him. The memory of her lifeless body sprawled on the floor, blood pooling around her, shards of glass glinting in the dim light. His drunk father absent, somewhere in the shadows of their broken home.
The sight of her, cold and unresponsive, haunted him. The blood, the glass, the silence—it was a scene etched into his soul. The one person who had protected him, the one who had loved him unconditionally, was gone.
That day had shattered him, and the scars never healed. Every decision, every moment since then, was tainted by that unbearable loss. And now, the thought of losing his brothers, the only family he had left, was a nightmare he couldn't face.
The weight of that fear, the crushing burden of potential loss, it consumed him. The memories of his sister's sacrifice merged with the present, making every moment with Lady Y/N feel like a ticking bomb. It was a constant reminder of the fragility of life, of the thin line between love and devastation.
He couldn't let that happen again. He wouldn't survive it.
The pain, the terror, the helplessness—it all surged within him, a relentless storm. And Lady Y/N, with her frailty and her ties to their enemies, was at the center of it all. She embodied the threat of history repeating itself, the harbinger of another unimaginable loss.
And that, he couldn't bear. He wouldn't let his brothers fall into the same abyss that had claimed his sister. Not again.
~~~~~~~

All this fear blurred into pure rage. All the pain bottled up... It shattered...

And Lady Y/N had to suffer from the cuts.

Her very presence was a constant reminder of his past, a trigger to his most painful memories. Every interaction, every glance, felt like a knife twisting in an already open wound.

It hurt...

It hurt like fuck...

It always will...
