I blink blearily, struggling to keep my eyes open. The early morning air is crisp, chilling my skin, but it does nothing to wake me up. I stifle a yawn as Jia fusses over my hair, her hands swift but gentle as she weaves the strands into something presentable.
"Hold still, My Lady." she murmurs, adjusting the last few pins. "You have to look your best, especially in the foreign kingdom."
I nod lazily, barely registering her words. My mind is still foggy with sleep, and I can't seem to focus on anything beyond the comforting weight of her hands working through my hair.
"There." Jia says, stepping back to inspect her work. She eyes me critically before smoothing a stray lock behind my ear. "That should do it. You can't arrive looking like you just woke up, even if you basically did."
"Thanks." I mumble, fighting another yawn. My body feels sluggish, my limbs heavy as I stand up.
