-Start of Chapter 85-

The chaos dies down a bit as the some of the assassins retreat into the woods, but the eerie silence is broken by faint laughter.

My head snaps up to see her—the girl with the blazing red eyes. She's standing just at the edge of the clearing, her smirk sharp and cruel as she watches me panic over Sunghoon.

Her gaze lingers, as if she's memorizing every detail of my fear. Then, with a soft chuckle, she vanishes into the shadows, leaving me trembling against the tree.

"Jay!" Taehyun's voice calls from the distance, and soon Jay arrives on horseback, his second horse loaded with supplies. He jumps down, rushing to us with his hands already working to pull out bandages and tools.

Jay's body is also covered in wounds, his clothes stained with blood.

I sit slumped against the tree, Sunghoon kneeling in front of me. His body trembles with exhaustion, his breathing shallow as blood pools beneath him. The arrows still jut from his back, their shafts trembling with every ragged breath he takes.

"Sunghoon, hold still," Jay orders, his voice firm but laced with urgency. He grips the first arrow and pulls.

Sunghoon barely nods, but when Jay pulls the first arrow out, his reaction is immediate. His entire body jerks, a guttural sound escaping his throat. His hand lashes out, gripping the tree so hard that the wood splinters beneath his fingers.

I flinch at the sharp crack of the tree trunk, my heart pounding as I watch him endure the pain.

"Damn it" Jay mutters, reaching for another. "This is bad. Y/N, keep him steady."

I nod shakily, my trembling hands reaching up to touch Sunghoon's shoulders. "It's okay," I whisper, even though I know it's not. "You're going to be okay."

The second arrow comes out with a sickening sound, and Sunghoon jerks forward, his forehead resting against my shoulder. His body is burning hot, the strain of his injuries evident in every shudder that courses through him.

"Sunghoon..." My voice breaks as I feel the warm, sticky sensation of blood dripping from his mouth onto my back.

Jay doesn't stop. He grabs another arrow, pulling it free as quickly as he can, but the pain is too much for Sunghoon. His grip on the tree weakens, and he collapses against me.

"Y/N, hold him steady!" Jay shouts, pulling supplies from his bag.

I wrap my arms around Sunghoon, his weight pressing heavily against me as I stroke his wet hair. Tears stream down my face as I whisper his name over and over, desperate to keep him conscious.

"Stay with me" I plead, my voice trembling. "Please, stay with me."

Sunghoon stirs faintly, his crimson eyes flickering open. They burn with an otherworldly intensity, but the light in them is dimming, fading with each passing second.

He tries to speak, but another violent cough overtakes him, blood spilling from his lips and staining my already-soaked clothes. His fingers twitch weakly, barely able to grip the fabric of my shirt.

"Sunghoon..." I whisper again, tears choking my words.

His gaze locks onto mine, blazing red even through the haze of pain. His lips part, and his voice, though faint and broken, carries an unshakable conviction.
