-Start of Chapter 138-
A/N's POV
The air was still — too still.
Mist coiled across the ruined courtyard, heavy and unmoving, veiling the pale stones like breath over glass. Seven shadows stood beneath the fractured archway, silent as statues. The wind did not stir. The world itself seemed to hold its breath.
Jungwon stepped forward first. His movements were smooth, mechanical — not his own. The chair waited at the centre, carved from blackened wood, its surface etched with ancient sigils that glimmered faintly red.
He sat.
One by one, the others followed. Jay placed a steady hand upon Jungwon's shoulder, his gaze distant and cold. Behind him, Sunghoon rested his palm on Jay's back, then Jake, then Heeseung, and finally Ni-ki, each movement precise, synchronized — like a ritual remembered by the body, not the mind.
Their eyes were empty.
The mist pulsed once, a heartbeat in the silence.
Jungwon's lashes fluttered. His breathing slowed. The faint light of the sigils began to crawl up his arms, thin red veins of energy weaving under his skin.
Then — he opened his eyes.
Crimson light flooded them, unnatural and wild, burning like fire trapped beneath ice.
The ground trembled. The others stiffened — and then, one by one, their forms began to fade, drawn toward him like smoke caught in a current. Hands, faces, shadows — all dissolving into crimson mist that spiraled into Jungwon's body.
A single flash.
Then silence.
Only Jungwon remained.
His chest rose once, sharply. The sigils went dark. When he finally lifted his gaze, the red still burned in his eyes — colder now, steady, infinite.
ENHYPEN was gone.
They had become one.
~~~~~~~
Sunghoon's POV
The forest smells of wet earth and pine. Horses snort and shift; the world is a blurred green halo when Jungwon steps from between the trees like a blade of shadow.
For a heartbeat everything freezes — then instinct moves faster than thought. Jungwon's face is wrong: too still, eyes burning the wrong red. He doesn't speak. He walks, precise and slow, toward where I sit astride the horse, Y/N squeezed white-knuckled behind me.
"Stay here, My Lady." I never take my hand from hers, but my voice is flat, no room for argument. She flinches but nods, eyes wide. I swing down before she can, boots sinking into the leaf litter.
Jungwon doesn't give a warning. He launches — sudden, brutal. His leg arcs like a scythe, aiming for my ribs. I taste metal and cold before it connects. I don't think, I react: my forearm meets his shin with a sickening, bone-ready thud. Pain shocks up my arm, but I hold him off and shove. The force knocks him sideways, but he rights himself in a single heartbeat and comes at me again.
