~yoooo 2 chs update for yalll. thank me~
-Start of Chapter 75-
I wake up with a soft gasp, my chest heaving as though I've been running for miles. The voices, the nightmares—they cling to me like a thick fog, impossible to shake.
I glance around the tent, my breathing uneven. My eyes dart around, and I see Yeonjun sleeping a little distance away. He's lying on his side a few feet away, his back turned toward me, his breathing slow and steady.
I let out a shaky sigh, running a hand through my hair. The weight of the dream still presses on me, and I know I won't be able to sleep again anytime soon. Quietly, I rise, careful not to disturb Yeonjun, and step outside.
The night is eerily silent, the kind of silence that makes your ears strain to pick up even the faintest sound. The campfire is out, its embers cold and lifeless, and the air bites at my skin, sharp and frigid.
I glance around the campsite. No one else is outside. It feels like I'm completely alone.
I walk over to a large rock next to the remnants of the fire and sit down. My fingers trail over the cool surface of the stone as I stare at the blackened wood. A deep sigh escapes my lips as I tilt my head back, looking up at the sky.
It's dark—so dark that the stars feel muted, like their light is struggling to pierce through the thick veil of clouds. The crescent moon, faint and fragile, is almost entirely swallowed by the shadows. The heavy clouds drift lazily, covering even the thinnest sliver of light.
For a moment, it feels as though the darkness is alive, pressing down on me, suffocating. My chest tightens, and I force myself to take a deep breath, but the weight of the night remains.
I clasp my hands together, resting them in my lap as my mind races. The fire's absence feels symbolic somehow—like even its warmth and light have abandoned us tonight.
My thoughts drift to Yeonjun's words from earlier, his voice cracking as he begged me to stay. The memory makes my chest ache, the lump in my throat returning.
"Stay alive. For me. For us..."
I shake my head, trying to push the memory aside, but it clings to me, refusing to let go. The weight of his plea, of his fear, mingles with the overwhelming dread that has been building inside me.
The visions, the warnings, the darkness—it all feels like too much. Like it's only a matter of time before everything collapses.
Above me, the clouds shift slightly, teasing a brief glimpse of the crescent moon before swallowing it once more.
Even the sky feels hopeless tonight.
...
...
"My Lady?" A gentle hand rests on my shoulder.
I flinch, startled, my heart lurching in my chest. Whipping around, I exhale sharply when I see Sunghoon standing there, his face calm, though concern flickers in his eyes.
"It's just me" he says softly, his hand retreating as I relax.
I sigh, running a hand through my hair. "You scared me" I mutter, my voice a little shaky.
"My apologies" he replies with a faint smile. "But what are you doing out here at this late hour? You should be resting."
I pull the blanket tighter around my shoulders, glancing back at the burnt-out fire. "I couldn't sleep" I admit quietly.
