Jungwon doesn't reply, his sharp eyes scanning the area as he steps closer, positioning himself between me and the remaining wolves. His expression is cold, his stance steady, and his grip on the sword unwavering.

"Stay down" he orders, his tone calm but commanding.

I nod, my body trembling as I scramble to the side, away from the chaos.

Sunoo staggers over, clutching his side where the wolf had slammed into him. His face is pale, his breathing ragged. "Jungwon? What the—how the hell...?" he demands, his voice breaking.

Jungwon doesn't answer, his focus entirely on the wolves still circling us. "Get her out of here." he commands, his tone brooking no argument.

Sunoo hesitates, his gaze flickering to me. "But—"

"Now!" Jungwon snaps, his sword cutting through the air as another wolf charges.

Reluctantly, Sunoo grabs my arm and pulls me to my feet. "Come on, we have to go" he says, his voice tight with urgency.

Sunoo pulls me along, his grip firm despite the tremor in his hands. My legs stumble to keep up as he drags me through the dense forest, the shadows stretching like claws around us.

"We can't leave Jungwon behind!" I protest, my voice sharp with panic.

"We don't have a choice!" Sunoo snaps, his breath ragged as he glances back, his eyes wide with fear. "He told us to go, and we're going!"

The trees blur past us, their twisted branches swaying in the cold wind. My chest heaves, the air burning my lungs as the howls of wolves echo behind us, growing closer with each second.

Suddenly, Sunoo stumbles to a halt, nearly yanking me off my feet.

"What is it?" I ask breathlessly, but the answer comes before he speaks.

In the darkness ahead, dozens of pairs of glowing eyes pierce through the shadows, the low growls surrounding us like a predator's taunt.

Sunoo curses under his breath and pushes me behind him, his arm stretching out protectively. "Stay behind me, Y/N" he orders.

I scowl, pulling my dagger free with a shaky grip. "And let you deal with ten wolves on your own? Not a chance!"

"This isn't the time for—"

The wolves don't wait for him to finish. The first one lunges, and Sunoo barely manages to sidestep, landing a sharp kick to its ribs. The creature yelps but quickly recovers, snarling as it circles back.

The others follow, breaking from the pack with terrifying speed.

I duck as one leaps toward me, slashing my dagger upward. The blade connects, slicing through its shoulder. Blood sprays onto the ground as the wolf whimpers and retreats, but another quickly takes its place.

"Y/N, watch out!" Sunoo yells, grappling with a wolf that's clamped its jaws around his forearm. He growls in pain, using his free hand to shove the beast away, his blood splattering onto the forest floor.

"I'm fine!" I shout back, even as my arm trembles under the weight of another attack. My dagger is my only defense, but it feels pitifully small against the overwhelming force of the wolves.
