I sit on the edge of my bed, the worn leather cover of my mother's diary resting on my lap. My fingers trace over the embossed pattern as I read the riddle again, the words looping endlessly in my head.
Beneath the moonless night's gaze,
Where still waters in silence daze,Near the lake where shadows loom,A hidden bloom defies the gloom.A blossom hidden from the eye,A myth some say, but it's nearby.
I close the diary with a soft thud and lean back against the wall, staring at the ceiling. Tonight. We're leaving for Blackwood Forest tonight, and even though I know we have to, my stomach twists with nerves.
A knock at the door startles me, and I jump a little. "Yes?" I call out.
The door creaks open, and Dohyun peeks in, bowing slightly before stepping inside. Thankfully, he doesn't have another enormous bouquet this time. "Prince Sunghoon wanted me to ask if you'd like to explore the market and town of Elaria with him today" Dohyun says, his voice soft and polite. "Just simple clothes, no guards. Just you both."
I blink at him, surprised. Sunghoon? Exploring the market? It's not exactly what I expected to hear today, but the thought makes me smile. "He wants to take me out, huh?" I ask, tilting my head.
Dohyun nods quickly. "Yes, Your Majesty."
I chuckle and set the diary aside. "When are we leaving?"
"In half an hour." he replies, bowing again before leaving the room.
I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. A walk through the town sounds... nice.

When I reach the palace steps, I spot him immediately. He's waiting near the grand fountain, dressed in simple yet well-fitted attire that somehow makes him even more striking. His dark hair glints under the sunlight, and when he turns, his eyes find mine instantly, a slow smile spreading across his lips.
"My Lady, you look..." He pauses as his gaze sweeps over me, his smile deepening. "Mesmerizing"
Heat rises to my cheeks, and I glance down at the pale green dress I'd hastily chosen. It's nothing extravagant, just simple enough to blend in, but his words make me feel like I'm wearing the finest silk in the kingdom. "You don't look too bad yourself." I tease, though my voice is softer than I intend.
