The third day of the preliminaries came, but the Karasuno team was at school since they had lost. Well, except for Himari. She decided to skip and go watch Seijoh versus Shiratorizawa. Her mother had allowed it since her grades were good, so there she was, sitting and waiting for the game to start.

I forgot to give Kageyama his lunch! Himari thought as she watched the two captains shake hands.

I'll just make him a snack later.

Soon, the whistle blew and the game started.

~

When the game finished, Himari used her crutches to get down the stairs and find Oikawa. She knew he was probably sulking somewhere due to his loss.

"Tooru!"

The boy turned around and saw his friend who should be in school.

"Mari, what are you doing here?"

"Skipping school, obviously. Anyway, you guys played a good game."

Oikawa scoffed at her, "Are you trying to rub it in my face that we lost? Just go away, Nakamura."

Okay so that kind of hurt, Himari thought to herself as she frowned at him.

Himari sighed and turned around to leave, "Bye Oikawa, good job today."

Oikawa watched her leave, feeling a little hurt that his friend called him by his last name, but he did it first. He shook himself out of his thoughts and pushed those feelings away, only one thought running through his mind:

We will go to nationals.

~

After she left, she decided to go to Ukai's store to get a snack since she was hungry.

"Welcome!"

"Sup."

Ukai and his friend, Takinoue, whipped their heads around when they heard the familiar voice.

"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in school?"

Himari leaned against the wall and nodded, "Yeah, but I'm skipping. I went to watch the Seijoh versus Shiratorizawa game."

The two adults looked surprised, "Who won?"

"Who do you think? Obviously Shiratorizawa won."

Ukai nodded, thinking about the match up, "Makes sense. I gave everyone the day off today from practice, just so you know."

Himari squinted her eyes at the coach before laughing, "You're hilarious if you think those boys will take a break. Come by the gym later, I guarantee you they will be practicing."

Himari put a bag of chips and a drink on the counter. Ukai scanned them, before handing them to Himari in a plastic bag.

"See ya later."

~

As Himari approached the gym, she could hear yelling and someone spiking volleyballs. Knowing exactly who it was she sighed.

They are so loud.

Himari then ran into the third years and smiled, "So you guys decided not to quit?"

"We're here to stay."

In the gym, the first and second years were freaking out when Himari and the third years hadn't shown up.

"What if Mari quit because we lost?!" Noya yelled.

"No, she wouldn't do that!" Tanaka yelled.

Hinata turned to Kiyoko with a worried look, "Mari and the third years are still coming to spring nationals with us, right?"

Kiyoko was silent as they heard people running towards the gym. The three third years came running in.

"They're staying." Kiyoko finally said with a smile.

"What kept you nerds?!" Tanaka exclaimed.

Hinata and Kageyama looked around trying to spot the brown haired girl, but they didn't see her.

"Hold on, where's Mari?" Kageyama asked.

"Did she quit?!"

All of them were talking over one another when they noticed someone entering the gym. Himari smiled at them and waved.

"Sup guys."

"Mari!" They all ran to her with tears and smiles.

She backed up a little and gave them an awkward look, "I was just picking up my homework."

"Huh? You didn't attend classes?"

"Nope, I skipped." She replied and sat down on the bench.

Suga gave her a disappointed look and she just gave him a peace sign. She then clapped her hands together and looked at everybody sternly,

"Now, get to practice!"

"Yes!"

~

After around thirty minutes, Ukai arrived and was pleasantly surprised that everyone was practicing.

When the boys saw him, they ran up to him with determination etched onto their faces.

"Thank you! We hope you continue to coach us!"

Himari looked at Ukai with a pleading look, "Please stay, I don't think I can deal with them."

The man laughed and nodded, "I wasn't planning on leaving!"

~

Ukai made everyone sit down so they could discuss what happened and their next steps.

"You guys played hard, but you lost. Like it or not, that's what happened out there. I'm sure you're interested to know who the winner of the final was."

Ukai looked at Himari. She nodded and looked at the team, "It was Shiratorizawa."

"Are you saying that Seijoh lost?" Kageyama asked.

"Yeah, but the game was pretty close. Shiratorizawa's brute strength gave them the edge though." Himari answered.

Suga squinted his eyes at the first year before they widened, "You skipped to watch the game!"

"Guilty."

Suga put her in a headlock and she began to squirm, "Let go!"

"No! You were irresponsible, and I didn't get to skip school!"

"I have all A's!"

Suga stared at her before letting her go. She huffed and turned back to the coach who was waiting for them to finish.

"So, Seijoh isn't the strongest team in our prefecture. We need to step it up! I'm sure you know what our next focus is, spring nationals. Obviously, that will be the last game for our third years. Actually, I would like to hear some inspiring words from the captain."

Daichi was surprised, but stood up and faced the team, "The venue is Tokyo's orange court. Karasuno has only been once, so let's go back and do it again."

Everyone smiled before cheering, "Alright!"

~

After they had their break, Takeda walked into the gym to watch them play. Himari immediately approached him and asked to talk to him outside.

"So what's going on, Nakamura?"

Himari explained and Takeda's eyes widened and he began smiling.

"So can you call them?"

"Yes, of course! You can count on me!"

"Thanks Takeda. I'll do what I can to get them to the top." Himari said as she listened to their shoes squeak on the court.

"This will be a nice surprise for them. I'll call tomorrow in the morning."

Himari nodded and the two headed back inside. She was excited to see how they evolve during the next few months.

Now, I just need to convince her to join.
