Date Tech

After Karasuno won their first game they gathered in an open area to relax and eat before their next game.

"Guys, come get your lunch!" Himari shouted.

The boys all gathered around her as she handed them bento boxes. She had made sure to make the lunches light in order to make sure they have energy, but won't get sick.

After all the players got their lunch, Himari gave the coach, Takeda, and Kiyoko their own lunch. She sighed and sat down, eating her lunch.

"Date Tech is next, right?"

"Yeah, it is."

"Is it the same team that made Asahi quit?" Himari asked quietly.

Kiyoko nodded and they ate their lunch silently until it was time to go.

When the team entered the gym everyone was cheering or talking about Date Tech. Himari and Kiyoko helped get the bottles refilled and brought the ball cart to Ukai for receiving drills.

"It seems like everybody wants Date Tech to win." Takeda said.

"Yeah, but everybody likes an underdog." Himari replied back and watched as the two teams got in position for the game.

Date Tech served first, but Karasuno received it and Kageyama immediately sent it to Hinata, however Date Tech was able to get into position to block the ball, but Hinata was able to get it past.

"They're using read blocking, right? Takeda asked.

Himari and Ukai nodded, "Commit blocking is usually used so the blockers can keep up with the spikers."

"But since number seven is so big and fast, read blocking works just fine for them." Ukai said, finishing Himari's statement.

The game continued and Karasuno kept getting blocked, but they were able to keep the lead. However when Hinata was going to spike again, the big number seven was able to read his move and block him.

"He's good. He's able to read them really well and adjust accordingly." Himari commented.

On Date Tech's side, they could see Himari's impressed face and they slapped their teammate on the back with a smile.

"Aone, you impressed the daughter of Japan's volleyball coach!" Futakuchi exclaimed.

She tilted her head as they looked at her, but they turned around quickly. She shrugged and continued watching the game.

"They're going to use it now." Himari mumbled as she saw how Hinata's eyes shined.

When the whistle blew, and Kageyama got the ball, he immediately sent it to Hinata for the quick attack. Himari and Ukai smirked when they saw the look on Date Tech's face.

"I'll never get tired of people's reaction to them." Ukai said.

The game continued with Hinata and Kageyama pulling another quick attack causing Date Tech to call for a timeout.

Himari pulled out the container with the honeyed lemon slices and opened them for the players.

"Thanks Mari!" Noya said as he immediately took one.

"Mari!"

Himari looked up and saw Oikawa standing there with a smile. He pointed at the container and she just rolled her eyes before taking another one out of the bag.

The Seijoh team got down from the sitting area to head to their own game, so Himari approached them with the snack.

"Mari, is that for me?" Oikawa asked with stars in his eyes.

"No, it's for your team. Share." Himari said before smiling up at Iwaizumi and giving him the container.

"They're honeyed lemon slices. It's good to get your energy up when you get tired." Himari said.

"Thanks, Nakamura."

"No problem. Also call me Himari or Mari." She said before leaving back to her team.

After she left, Oikawa swiped the container and opened, immediately taking a lemon slice out to eat.

"These are so good!" He said, his mouth full.

"She said it's for all of us!" Iwaizumi said and swiped the container. He looked inside and shrugged before taking one out and eating it.

"Wow, these are good."

Back with Karasuno, everyone could tell that Hinata had gotten the attention of everyone in the gym.

The game continued with Hinata and Kageyama continuing to switch between quick attacks and regular attacks. At one point, it looked like Hinata was going to spike, but Asahi did it instead and got the point.

"Yes!"

"At this point we've shown them every weapon we have." Ukai said with a smile.

"We're going to win." Himari mumbled.

The first set ended with Karasuno taking it. Himari took the board that had the positions on them and shifted the magnets before handing it back to Ukai.

"Two positions up so number seven and Hinata aren't matched up?"

Himari nodded and gave the players towels and bottles as Ukai explained the new plan. Once the second set was starting, Date Tech had trouble stopping Hinata and Asahi. Eventually, they called a timeout.

After the timeout both teams began to accumulate points, with Karasuno taking the lead with 24 points to Date Tech's 21 points.

"Number seven is at the front now." Takeda said.

"We're fine, we still have the freak quick attack."

Himari leaned back as she watched, "Yeah, but how long will that quick attack hold up?"

As the game continued, Kageyama passed a ball a little close to the net, resulting in a joust. Asahi and Aone were both trying to push the ball over the other side, with Aone winning.

Himari watched in anticipation as the ball was falling next to Noya.

On the court Noya remembered what he and Himari talked about and he made a decision.

Two days ago

"Wouldn't it be super cool if you saved the ball with your foot or something?" Himari asked as she sat next to the libero.

"Yeah, I'll totally try that!"

"He used his foot!" Himari exclaimed as she watched the ball travel through the air.

"One more time!" Suga yelled.

"Until I can score!" Asahi yelled as he called for the ball.

Everyone cheered for Asahi as jumped up to spike the ball. When he did, it hit the blockers before rolling atop the net and falling onto Date Tech's side.

Karasuno won.
