Stefan: "Babysit?" He asked, a sense of amusement coating his voice.
"Yeah, it's my cousin's kid. Only for a couple of hours. Keep me company?" You smiled through the phone, hearing him laugh softly on the other end.
"Of course."
"Great! See you soon?" You smiled.
"See you soon." He chuckled, hanging up the phone.
A couple of minutes later and Stefan had arrived, knocking on the door.
"Stefan's here!" You beamed excitedly at the little boy who sat comfortably on your hip, flailing his arms around happily. Moving over to the door, you opened it and greeted Stefan with a warm smile and a quick kiss. Moving over to the couch, you sat down, the infant on your lap and Stefan sitting across from you.
"So how old is he?" He smiled, watching you interact with the small boy.
"8 months." You grinned, your focus on the baby as you made a face, causing him to giggle. It was almost as if Stefan was in a trance, watching you with the child, his smile never faltering. "Aw," You half-giggled, "Are you tired?" Your voice higher pitched than usual as the infant let out a yawn. Looking over to the kitchen, you turned to face Stefan. "Can you hold him for a minute? I just need to heat up his bottle. He won't sleep without it."
"Uh, Yeah. Sure." He smiled, standing up as you carefully placed the baby into his arms. He looked a little uncomfortable at first, but then began smiling down at the small boy before sitting back down.
"I'll be right back." You assured him, rushing into the kitchen and grabbing the bottle, quickly heating it up and walking back into the living room, bottle at the ready, only to find the baby sound asleep in Stefan's arms. "Well I guess we won't be needing this then." You giggled, putting the bottle down on the coffee table before moving next to Stefan who was smiling down at the baby held comfortably in his arms. "You would have made a great father." You smiled sadly. He looked up, giving you that same sad-smile before leaning over and placing a gentle kiss on your lips.
"And you would have made an even better mother."Damon: "Now this is a situation I would never have pictured myself in." Damon stated jokingly, but it was obvious he was really very confused as he walked into your house after you answered the door with a small baby held against your chest.
"Ha-ha-ha." You replied sarcastically, your voice completely monotone as you rolled your eyes playfully. "This is my niece, Piper." You smiled, turning the little girl in your arms to face Damon who smiled uncomfortably. "What's that look for?" You giggled, looking at Damon who seemed uncomfortable.
"Babies just kind of freak me out." He confessed, his voice completely monotone and his eyes widening.
"Damon," You started.
"Don't look at me with those judgey-little eyes." He teased.
"You are a century year old vampire. You can't possibly tell me that you are afraid of babies!" You laughed lightly, shaking your head.
"No, not afraid," He scoffed, pausing, "just unsure." Raising an eyebrow, you cocked your head to the side before stepping toward him, holding the baby out for him to take. "Hold her." You smiled.
"I'd really rather not." He grimaced, taking a step back with his hands up in defense.
"Damon. Hold her." You repeated. Reluctantly he stepped forward, shooting you a worried glance before carefully taking the child into his arms. He stood there, tense, while she giggled and smacked her arms against his chest playfully. Finally, he let out a chuckle and his face softened.
"See? She's harmless." You laughed, watching the two of them interact.
"Yeah, she's alright I guess." He scoffed teasingly, a smirk playing on his face.Klaus: A loud knock pulled you out of your trance-like state as your eyes darted from your book to the front door. Glancing through the window carefully, you smiled crazily as you saw Nik waiting on the porch.
"Hey!" You beamed happily as you opened the door.
"Hello love." He grinned, pulling you in for a small kiss before entering the house. "So I take it you're still babysitting?" He chuckled, noticing the children's toys strewn about the room.
"Yeah." You laughed, "He's asleep at the moment. Actually, he's probably due to wake up soon." You thought out loud, signaling that you were excusing yourself as you jogged down the hallway to where the baby was. Sure enough, he was awake. Taking him in your arms, he groggily laid his head down against your shoulder as you made your way back out to Nik.
"Leo, this is Klaus." You chirped happily. "And Klaus, this is Leo." You introduced the two. Nik smiled down at the boy, giving him a small wave before Leo shyed away, burying his face in his hands and facing your chest.
"Aw, someone's shy!" You teased. Your phone began to ring from the other room as you looked toward it with furrowed brows. Placing Leo on your hip, you started making your way back down the hall.
"here, y/n, I'll take him while you answer that." Nik offered happily, jogging over and taking Leo carefully into his arms.
"Thank you Nik, you're a saint!" You beamed, running to answer the phone.
It had been a little over ten minutes and you had just finally managed to end the painfully boring call.
"Oh my god, sorry I took so long, I had to-" You began, being at loss for words as you reentered the living room to find Nik cross legged on the floor, laughing hysterically with Leo as he made funny faces at the small baby, playing peekaboo.
"Peekaboo," He paused, covering his face with his hands as Leo's fit of giggles finally starting to die down. "I see you!" Nik beamed happily, pulling a face as he moved his hands. Leo burst into hysterics, Nik soon following suit.
"He makes good company." Klaus chuckled as he picked the boy back up into his arms as he walked toward you.Elijah: "So this is the little one I've heard so much about." Elijah smiled, walking down the front steps of his house as you pulled the little girl from her carseat and sat her comfortably in your arms.
"Sure is," You grinned, "You know, Elijah, you don't have to help me babysit. I'm sure you have more important things to do."
"What is more important than spending time with you, the one I love?" He smiled. Blushing slightly, you giggled, turning back around to grab the rest of your stuff from the backseat.
"I'll get her settled in and we'll meet you inside." He offered, as you handed him the baby with a smile, and grabbed your bag before locking your car and making your way into the house. You had planned to spend the day at Elijah's. Originally, it was to be just you and him, but your sister had asked you to babysit last minute. At first you were worried that you'd have to cancel, but Elijah was more than happy to meet more of your family. Walking into the house, you put the bag down and made your way over to Elijah who stood in the living room, lightly rocking on the balls of his feet. Turning around, you found the baby to be fast asleep in his arms. Your heart swelled at the sight. Seeing the man you loved, the man who is so widely feared, rocking asleep your niece was almost painfully adorable.
"She's quite tired." He stated calmly, a small smile tugging at his lips.
"She's had a big day." You giggled back. Slowly putting her in her carrier to sleep, he moved over to you, wrapping you into his chest.
"y/n, I'm sorry we're not able to have a family." He said hesitantly, his voice saddening.
"Hey," You started, a sad smile on your face, "I have you. We are a family, and I couldn't ask for anything more."
