-Knowing each other since you were kids.

-In fact, you met in the sandbox.

-Being there for him when Vicki died.

-Not to mention helping him through the nightmares and mental breakdowns that arose from it all.

-Sitting at the bar in the grill while he works late-shifts to keep him company.

-Which he greatly appreciates.

-During summer, you pick up a few shifts there too.

-He thinks you look adorable in the uniform.

-He's tried to give you the Gilbert ring.

-Because he's afraid of you getting hurt, and him not being able to protect you like the rest of the Mystic Falls Gang could.
