Set in stone (Ninjago x Male reader)

Extra #11 Work, work, work

So this extra is a little special, since it's basically a re-creation of one of the earlier concepts for (y/n)'s character. But not canon, as always. Here you go!

"(y/n)! Kai took my controller!" Jay's shout echoed through the Bounty. Kai glared at the back of Jay's head from where he was sitting on a pillow next to him, before he quickly grabbed another pillow and smacked Jay on the head before speaking up.

"It doesn't have your name on it!" Jay whipped to face him just as fast as he had called out to (y/n), this time with a glare on his face.

"It's blue!"
"So what?"
"So, it's mine!"
"We never decided that!"
"What's wrong with the red one then?"
"Nothing, so why don't you use it?"
"Arghhh!" (y/n) honestly did not care about the two's arguing. He didn't even look at them until the very end, when he noticed Jay was on the verge of attacking the red ninja, he cut in, barely.

"Let Zane decide who's in the wrong. I'm in a hurry." (y/n) said, motioning for the white ninja, who had peeked into the room upon hearing his name, before another voice called out from a the corner.

"Still more work? Didn't you already run an eight hour shift today?" Cole asked as he lifted his head from the Starfarer comic he was reading with Lloyd, since today was his turn to babysit the son of Lord Garmadon. 

"It's a new place," (y/n) said, not surprising anyone, the ninja knew he hopped between jobs all the time. "The pay isn't great and the job is decent, but most of the workers just caught themselves a bad case of flu, and can't come to work at all. I guess I just wanted to help the owner out." (y/n) finished his explanation as he checked he had everything packed, before running over to Lloyd, ruffling his hair with a smile before running for the door.

"Alright, I'll be back by two!" Considering it was eight o'clock in the evening, (y/n) definitely meant two in the morning.

Though the ninja weren't happy about their brother having to work all the time, they were grateful that he spent so much time and energy for them.

"Maybe we should get jobs, too," Kai proposed, and the others except for Lloyd nodded along.

But Zane, always the voice of reason, spoke up too, "Though your idea is good, we don't have time to get jobs because of ninja work, at least not now. Maybe once all this Serpentine stuff is over and done with, we could consider it." His words made sense, so no one disagreed with him.

That's when Jay, having already forgotten about his and Kai's dispute, lit up and jumped up from his seat.

"I know, let's surprise him by picking him up from work! He never asks us to or anything, but he hasn't forbidden it!" Jay's idea sounded good, before Kai spoke up with a doubtful tone.

"But... where even is the place?" Immediately everyone went silent in realization they hadn't the slightest idea where his current workplace was located.

That was until Lloyd spoke up while digging out a folded piece of paper from his pants pocket.

"(y/n) makes me carry around a list of his work places phone numbers. He's always going on about 'call me if something happens', and that stuff." Lloyd said and handed the list to Cole, who then handed it off to Zane, who read through the whole list, before nodding.

"I'll make the calls and asks where his shift for today is, wait for me until then."

And not long after, Zane had the address of the place written on another piece of paper. But the team still waited, though impatiently, until there was only thirty minutes to when (y/n)'s shift would end.
