Extra #12 Costumes

I'm sorry, I don't usually post two extras in a row but this one is special! Honestly, I just forgot Halloween existed so I decided to write up a quick special out my a- Also, if it matters, this takes place before s3, after the whole Overlord stuff and (y/n)'s vacation to the hospital, though this is not even close to be canon. So yeah.

"C'mon, you gotta be kidding me." Was Jay's reaction to seeing Zane walk into the living room.

"What? Is there something on my face?" The white ninja asked, reaching a hand to his face and feeling around, before Jay rushed right up to him.

Zane ignored the brown drapes Jay was wearing completely, instead concentrating on checking himself.

"It's what is not on your face! Why aren't you dressed up?!"  He looked at every inch of the Nindroid before circling him with a look of worry.

"But I am not coming to the amusement park, I am staying to watch over the school. Why is it that I need to dress up?" Zane tilted his head questioningly.

"It's not about the amusement park, it's about the halloween spirit! Ugh, wait here!" Jay quickly said, before he dashed away.

Zane stayed still until Jay rushed back, a hat in his hand. He quickly pushed the old-timey hat onto Zane's head and sighed in relief.

"There! A last-second costume!" Jay announced, admiring his reflection as he pushed Zane in front of the full-body mirror.

Zane looked at his reflection, puzzled. He was still in his usual clothes, with only a gray fedora added on top.

"And what am I, exactly?" He asked, glancing at Jay through the mirror.

"A detective!" Jay declared proudly. Zane tilted his head, but this time his lips curving into a small smile.

"Oh. Cool!" he said, nodding approvingly. The two were smiling at their own reflections when Nya entered, wearing a lampshade as a hat. She could hardly see, but by tilting her head a bit, she just barely managed to make out Zane's and Jay's faces.

"Oh, you two are already here," She let out, walking over. Jay immediately left Zane's side and attached himself to her, while Nya let out an exasperated sigh but didn't pull away.

"Oh, you two are very close today. Good for you." Zane commented before he noticed something, or actually someone, come into the room without letting out a sound.

Before Zane could inform Jay, Kai crept up behind the blue ninja and Nya, dressed in a dark cloak, hand hovering, ready to yank Jay away.

"Jay..." But Kai was kind enough to warn Jay of his presence, muttering out the blue ninja's name quietly. Jay was swift as lightning, releasing Nya and stumbling back with a shout.

"WAIT!" He shrieked, holding his hands as a shield in front of his face. Kai winced, hands over his ears.

"Quiet down! Also, take your PDA elsewhere please. But I'm not trying to give you a heart attack, gee," Kai muttered, frowning.

"Sure, but it felt like an attack! Oh, by the way, what's your look." Jay asked, eyeing Kai's attire.

"Classic vampire. Kept it simple." Kai showed his shirt and pants off, giving the three others the best angles as possible, though Nya couldn't see him very well either way. "But the fake fangs were too annoying, so I left them off."

"Eh, I think I'd make that sacrifice." Jay shrugged, and as the air lightened, he attached himsel to Nya again.

Kai visibly looked less relaxed, but before he could give Jay a warning to 'stay away from his sister,' Jay spoke up.

"Just so you know, it's part of the costume!" As he said it, Nya sighed again, trying to get a look at Kai from under her lampshade hat.

"So, she's a lamp?" Kai questioned as Jay nodded.

"Yep!"

"And you are?" Kai asked again as Jay flapped one of his arms almost like a wing.

"A moth!"

"A lamp and a moth... Gotcha," Kai muttered, suppressing a smile as Jay continued his elaborate 'moth' act. Zane chuckled, shaking his head.

"I wish Lloyd had made it here. He would have enjoyed dressing up." He said, even a bit sadly.

"Yeah, but green ninja work is top priority. We teachers get  days off, he doesn't." Kai sighed, a bit disappointed.

"There's always next year." Nya joined in before the four heard a pair of footsteps walking towards the living room.

"Are you sure I don't look weird?" Cole's voice asked, sounding unsure of himself.

A light laugh followed, before (y/n)'s voice rang out. "You look perfect," He replied to Cole.

The two stepped into the living room at last, both beaming in their costumes. Cole, dressed in a loose, rugged pirate outfit complete with a makeshift eyepatch and a sash around his waist, looked every bit the daring swashbuckler.

By his side, (y/n) was wearing rags that were basically just pieces of ripped cloth sown together, completely covering his legs. His skin meanwhile shone, painted in glimmering scales like some sort of siren. His hair was drenched too. Accuracy is key I guess.

Kai's jaw dropped as he took in their costumes, and Jay immediately lifted Nya's lampshade so she could see. Nya let out a small gasp of admiration, eyes sparkling.

"Whoa, you two vent all out, huh." Kai mumbled, still gawking.

Cole shifted shyly, scratching the back of his neck. "(y/n) made both costumes, so don't give me any credit."

(y/n) meanwhile let out a chuckle, "It's a habit. I always make crazy costumes with Lloyd for Halloween." (y/n) added as Jay bounced up and down in excitement.

"Now Nya and I aren't the only ones with a couple costume!" Kai was less exited about one part of Jay's sentence, but let it be. Just because he was single he had no right to ruin his sister's and Jay's little moment.

Cole blushed lightly as (y/n) smiled, before glancing at a clock on the wall.

"We should head out, before it's too late. Remember, we have to be back before eleven-"

"Oh come on! Let us enjoy the night without thinking of a curfew for once!" Jay pleaded eyes glimmering like a puppy's.

But it had no effect on (y/n), "No. If we split up, everyone has to be back by eleven o'clock. The ones who breaks the curfew will have to do everyone else's chores for a week." (y/n) stated as Jay groaned.

"Ugh, fine. Let's just go already."
